Okay, as some may remember, I had a nice 2 bedroom for thanksgiving weekend at VWL, our first stay "Home", then my sis deceided to join, and we didn't have enough room, (even though we asked her at the 11month window!!) So we confirmed a 2 bed and studio at OKW. Now I made the mistake of showing pictures to my parents of the "Grand Villas". Now to my question, I have a confirmed reservation, can I still waitlist for a Grand Villa, and if so, can you do so for entire length or do you have to waitlist per night??? I'm not interested in moving, so I guess my question is will they call me if the entire stay is available for just one night at a time??? Thanks

The way I understand it is you can waitlist 2 ways.

1. Waitlist for the entire stay. So if you are waitlisting for a trip of 5 days, you won't get called or get the ressie unless ALL 5 days are available at the same time when you are at the top of the waitlist.

2. Waitlist day by day. So each time a day becomes available, you get it. The potential problem with this is that you might ger Days 1, 2 , 4 and 5 and not #3 and might have to move out and move back. Don't know how often this happens, but it can.

If you are going with that many people, I'd waitlist the whole stay, even though it may take longer for the waitlist to come thru. I just wouldn't want to take the chance of having to move my whole family in and out in the middle of a stay.

Just my opinion.

I agree that it's probably best not to have to chance moving a big group in and out for a night or two. However, keep in mind that this makes your chances of actually getting the reservation less likely.

If you wait list for the whole stay only, if one or more of those dates become available and someone else has waitlisted day by day, they will get the days, even if they are behind you on the wait list. You would need to have someone holding a reservation that includes all of your days to cancel to have the best chance of getting what you want. Considering you are looking for Thanksgiving this may happen if some other family cancels their plans for Thanksgiving.

I would call and see if any are available for the time I'm there. You might get lucky. You may find you only need to be waited for one or two nights at most. If it is only one night, I'd take the chance and be waitlisted.

I've never not had a wait list come through for me, even in high holiday seasons or non-preferred views.

Just got off the telephone with MS, very nice and helpful, she suggested that I waitlist for the entire timeframe, not night by night, because I don't want to have to move. There are a total of 27 grand villas, nothing was available currently. She also said they will call me if it comes available, then 31 days prior to my trip, I am to call and they will waitlist another 7 days. If nothing is available, no problem, because I will still have my existing reservation.

Sorry that it was not available at all yet but good wishes that it will work out for you!

Okay - consider me wait list challenged!!! Called back again, the grand villa would be nice, but I really, really want to stay at the wilderness lodge!!! So they now have me wait listed for the 2 bedroom that I had!! and a studio, very confusing, I guess I should have just called my guide to fully explain the whole wait list thing, but i goofed!!! fingers crossed!:D
