We are now in planning mode,:woohoo: :woohoo: we have looked through the brochures from virgin and travel city direct and have noticed the regal sun hotel in LBV,we have read some really good reviews on trip advisor but was wondering if anyone has stayed there recently?:)

O.K This is only my opinion but......We stayed there for one night in Sept 08 and were very disappointed. I had high expectations considering the refurb. Had we been there for more than one night we would have moved to another hotel. The location is very good and the rooms were clean but that was it. The rooms do not look as good in person as they do in the brochures (good lighting, they look drab in real life). Unless you are in the main building it is very Motel like. It trys to be something its not. If budget allows , look at the Buena Vista Palace, we have stayed there twice and its how you see in the brochure. Its a great area but look at other hotels.

I think if you go many hotels with high expectations you are usually disappointed. The Regal Sun although had a multi million $ refurb is still a low cost hotel for that area, when I was looking at it last year it was available at around £35/night, up this year as are all hotels but still around £50/night less than half Bueana Vista palace, not seen it under £100/night recently which I think is crazy for somewhere to sleep but all we want is a clean bed nothing else.

Generally speaking I would agree with you Wayne, but if you are not fortunate enough to visit every year and have been looking forward to this holiday for a long time, then your expectations are going to be high. The extra night price for the B.V P is only an additional £18 pppn and if you are going to spend any amount of time in your room, (which we do) in my opinion is a far better option. Although I agree cleanliness is paramount, I enjoy staying in hotels and like nice surroundings and think the Regal Sun looks far better in the brochure than real life.

My parents are looking at this hotel for our upcoming holiday so any other reviews would be great.

I only want to pay £18/room per night:rotfl2:

As I said for us its clean comfortable bed we want but appreciate every family is different and want different things from a hotel.

Last August we paid £20/room/night at Country Inn & suites, best beds we have ever had in Orlando, then last 3 nights moved to AKL, even with AP disc it was £81/night, fantastic view from the balcony but horrible uncomfortable beds, OK for the 3 nights but for longer prefer Country Inn.

That sounds like our friend Lee, but he still has not managed to get me to stay in a motel 6 :rotfl: As you say everyone is different, to get things in perspective though, on that same holiday we did check in to The Swan, had a great view but checked out 1/2 hour later because the room was horrible....As I said before it was clean and the location is good so if your happy with that go for it :thumbsup2
