We are going to stay 1 night in a DTD hotel before we check in the Polynesian. Has anyone stayed at the Regal Sun? Is it close enough to walk to DTD? Any other suggestions for DTD hotels? We don't want to spend a lot of money since we will probably not get into Orlando until 6:00.

The Regal Sun is what use to be called the Grosvenor, if that helps.
It's right across a side street (busy intersection) from DTD Marketplace.
My understanding there were major renovations around the time of the name change. I don't know if it was a change of hands, or just a refurb and name change.

You'll find that the walk to DTD's Marketplace from the Regal Sun takes about 5 minutes. The intersection is not a problem since there is a generous pedestrian walk light with an easily visible numeric countdown. Try the pool bar there if you have a chance - good rum drinks! :thumbsup2

We stayed there in March. We enjoyed the location very much. Short drive to the parks. We COULD have walked to DTD. Shopping center with several restaurants back the other way down the side street. The Indian place was GOOD. The Regal Sun met all our expectations. The desk was especially pleasant and helpful. We would stay there again.

A couple of other cool things about the Regal Sun -

They host a Disney character breakfast (Goofy and Pluto) on Saturdays. I was told that it was the only place outside of the park that has the characters on Saturday.

The hotel also has its own dinner show - it's a murder mystery show with a CSI theme.

There's also a Nintendo Wii and a karaoke machine in the lobby. Lots of fun! The kids loved it.

I am staying here as well for my trip..only thing is I am not lucky enough to be switching to the Poly after one night..I wish!! :lmao: Maybe next year we will try to book well in advance for a hotel like that..

Anyways my question for those that stayed at the Regal Sun before:

1.) How far is it from Disney's 4 theme parks?

2.) Is the shuttle ride to those parks long? Are they on time as well, going to and from the parks? (I will most likely travel back and forth a few times throughout the day as we have to go back to the hotel to put our 2 year old down for a nap or at the very least, rest a bit)

Thanks in advance to those that can answer the questions..and sorry to hijack the thread but I would like some info on this "resort" but don't need to start a new thread.
