Refurbished section on Apple website

I picked out a refurbished pink Nano, 5th generation, 8GB for $99 on the Apple website. I placed it in my cart and immediately checked out. Apparently, as I was filling out my CC information, someone else came along and bought it?? When I hit the final "place order" button, it said "CART EMPTY." Then, when I went to the refurbed section, there were no 8GB nanos left. I am furious. The second I started the check out process, they should have held one for me! Why should it be a race of who types faster? I highly doubt there was only one available and someone clicked checkout at the EXACT same time that I did.
Anyway, vent aside, I am still interested in this iPod-- I was planning on it as a Christmas gift! What do Dissers know about the refurbished section? How often is it updated? What are the chances that another 8GB (don't care about the color) will pop up again with enough time to ship before Christmas. I just checked now (I lost it around 11) and there's still no more 8GB...

If I remember correctly, the best time to check for selection is in the morning. Maybe you will have better luck then. I'm sure that more will show up soon.

Keep checking every morning if you can. I wanted 2 and the color I wanted was sold out before I could purchase. I checked back each morning and about a week later I was able to purchase with no problems. This was the week of Thanksgiving. Good luck to you.

I bought a refurbished pink ipod nano - maybe 2nd/3rd generation. It's really tiny and I love it. I have had it for 18 months and it has been great. I just ordered my ds a refurbished itouch since his has a cracked screen and I'm expecting it any day. I've had great luck and the supply seems to be replenished frequently but remember it is xmas season so the stock may be somewhat in short supply. You might want to consider an itouch for only $50 more - they are soooo awesome!

Check every morning. This happened to me also. But in the end it was a Blessing as I was able to get each of the kids a different color, so no she has/he has fighting over them. Good luck. We have had great experiences with ours.

I have an iTouch myself and love it! This is a Christmas present for my mother, and I know she'd really love the FM radio on the 5th gen nano. Good to know that the refurbished items are good products!

Apple stores may also have refurbished items. We purchased both an iPod classic and a MacBook that way. Some of our local stores used to have tables in the back of refurb or open box items. Now I think you have to ask.
