I saw this a awhile back but cannot find the thread and the search is not turning it up.:surfweb:

I booked standard view at DLH. Are any of those rooms refurbed yet and if so how do I go about requesting one?:goodvibes

I don't know the answer to your first question, but I do know the reno is currently in the Dreams tower, which is mostly view rooms. There are some standard rooms due to blocked views, but I don't know if any of them have been renovated yet.

Just request a renovated room in the Dreams tower. That's what I did (I too have a standard room reserved). We leave on Fri 1/22 so I'll let you know how it goes :goodvibes

We stayed at the DLH from January 5th through the 8th. We book a standard view room with our AP discount which was $149.00 a night and when we got there to check in I asked if any of the rooms had been complete and were ready to stay in. I told the lady I was really hoping to stay in one because I had seen the pictures online of the renovated rooms and they were stunning and not only that but we were celebrating our 5th Anniversay and had our daughters with us one of whom we were also celebrating her weet 16 which is a big deal.
The lady told me to hold on a minute and walked to the back and when she came back out she informed me that she had gotten permission to upgrade us to one of the new rooms with a pool view on the 8th floor of the Dreams tower:goodvibes I was super excited and the room was beautiful!!! Disney really did these rooms very nice and put in some great detail! They were able to upgrade us for free because the hotel was only at 30% capacity, which was great seeing as how there were some post on DIS boards and other disney sites saying that anyone going in the 1st week of January was in for the largest crowds of the year......I can tell you it was the very opposite of what was predicted and it goes to show that the information given was only an opinion and information like that is not always correct.
I had a feeling anyway that the information about crowds would be wrong seeing as how we have gone to DL for the past 6 Januarys and have always had light crowds in from about the 4th of January through the 15th.

Anyhow just ask about the rooms and I am sure if capacity is low they will try to make it happen for you! Best of luck and have a great trip!

As of now I have a ressie at the HOJO, but have made a few calls to the Disneyland resort and inquire about staying at the DLH. I asked about the refurbished rooms and what it would take to get one and she said as of now, I would have to book a pool view in the Dreams tower and then request it. Even then it's just a request and not guaranteed. According to the person on the phone, the Dreams tower is supposed to be wrapping up it's room upgrades by this summer. How true and accurate that is, is anyone's guess. I thought I would share what I was told last week by Disney travel.

Do the refurbished rooms have a daybed or pullout couch in them?

Do you have any pictures of the new rooms??

I called today ( the main line) and this RUDe lady after a huge run around told me that she had no idea what level was renovated. I asked if I should call the hotel to see and she told me only 2 days before my reservations. Any info?

I don't know if I believe it since she kinda had everything else screwed up!

Yes I do have plenty of pictures of the room we stayed in. I will upload them tomorrow to photo bucket and share a few here.

One thing I really loved and it may sound corny is how the water flowed from the sink faucets (sp?) and bath tub. It was very pretty and did not flow out like the standard faucets that have been around for years like in a circle flow of water. I don't really know how to explain it other than it was very nice and added to the elegance of the rooms!:goodvibes

What stands Disney out from any other theme park is attention to detail. It would be interesting to know the story behind the faucets. Now if I get a refurbed (may upgrade at check in if their is availability) room the first thing I am going to do is turn on the cool taps. Thanks for sharing:goodvibes

We just got back so I can now report that we did indeed get a refurbed room at the ap standard rate of $149. We were on the 3rd floor of Dreams with a pool view. It was great!!

I agree Dizme! Our room was GREAT and I'm so glad we got one of the new refurbed room!!! Still trying to figure out how to get one of those headboards. Here are a few phostos.

Hi, is this a standard or view room? I had not noticed before the 2 sinks, is that standard in all rooms or only some?
Also, with the fabulous headboard have they done away with the glowing wall boarder?
thanks

Yes, this was a standard room. We had a view of the Neverland pool. The glow in the dark wallpaper is now gone but the headboard that lights up is so awesome! The light between the two beds plays "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes when the headboard lites up. I loved it! Here's the view from our room...

I'm sorry if this is a dumb question.

What rooms can you see fireworks from, if any? If I reserved the upper level pool/resort view and then asked for and received resort view, would we be able to see the fireworks?

Oh, wow! I've never had a burning desire to stay at the DLH. I might be changing my mind.
