In an effort to save to some cash I was thinking of getting a refurbed apple ipod the nano, the 4th generation ($30 cheaper than a new one). Anyone ever get a refurbed one? How are they?
Do you like your 4th or 5th generation nano?

I got my mom a refurbished ipod nano for christmas and she loves it. It comes packaged with new earphones/dock connector/USB cord and from what I understand it's in a new casing so basically only the hard-drive is refurbished. She's had no problems with her ipod at all and since she's new to ipods in general I felt like the refurbished was the best bet in case she didn't like it or didn't use it much.

Refurbed Ipods are great, so long as they are purchased from the Apple Store. Apple gives a 1-year warranty, new outer shell and new battery on all refurbed Ipods. I bought a refurbed 5g Ipod in 05 and it was still going strong when I sold it last year.

Thanks, I am new to ipods too, I don't know if I should just order it not or what lol.
I just feel like spending today, its $99 and free shipping from apple.com.

yup-we've bought a few from apple.com- they're great

I try to get refurbished when I can, but I recently bought a 32GB ipod touch at Sam's because the price worked out to be close to the same

Yes. I have bought a Nano and a Touch both from the same seller and both refurbished on Ebay. I also bought the Smart Trade warranty for a year and never have had any problems. I can get you the sellers name if you PM me. The touch was supposed to be for me but the whole family uses it. Both times I saved a lot off retail.

I guess I am the only one that ever had any trouble with refurb. I bought an old shuffle on the Apple site years ago and it broke right after the warranty expired.

Our family has bought an iPod touch, a nano, and an iPhone from Apple as refurbs. I would not hesitate to buy refurb, in fact I encourage it :goodvibes

My kids all got refurbished ipods a year ago at christmas and we've had no problems and my kids were 4 & 6 at the time.

I have a refurbed one (from the Apple website) and so does my DS. We've had them for a little over two years with no problems wth either one of them.

We did the same thing. My 32 GB Touch was almost the same price as a refurbished one.

I purchased a refurbed 4GB iPod Nano from the Apple Store and it worked great for over 2 years. I passed it on to a friend of mine who couldn't afford one when I bought an iPhone and it is still going strong! :thumbsup2

We purchased Oldest DS' Ipod Nano from apple refurbished a couple of years ago. :thumbsup2 It worked great until it was stolen a month ago.

DH has had 2 refurbished iPods (his hobby is destroying and loosing iPods, don't get me started... :headache:), and our iPhones are also.

So far so good!

You're not the only one.

We purchased 4 of them from Apple over the years. No problem buying refurbished!

I've gotten 3 refurbed iPod Nanos over the last couple of years and I have never had any issues with them at all. :goodvibes
