Does anyone know if DL plans to refurbish the HM like they did in WDW? It's really amazing!

I'm pretty sure that Disneyland refurbished their haunted mansion BEFORE wdw. They added all of the attic scene stuff.

Are there other things that were new to the Haunted Mansion at wdw??

Mrs. Bee is right, DL did a lengthy refurb of HM last year adding the whole "bride" part of the story.

Has the part with the stairs at WDW always been there? we were there in January this year. And I hadn't been there since 1995 so I couldn't remember if that was something newer or not.

The new stairs room is new to WDW having gone in in 2007.

The other's are right the HM at DL already had an update. With new sound, attic and floating Leota.

The stairs room will never happen at DL because of the different layouts of the two manisons.

I think the floating head was added a few years ago. But the bride stuff was new a year or so ago, I believe. I don't have the best memory though.

I LOVED the room with the stairs at WDW. Very cool. Because of that, the blinking wallpaper, and of the tomb or whatever it is towards the end...I think i like the ride a little better at WDW.

But they are both fantastic rides!

Yes technically HM has had several upgrades over the past few years. With HMH taking down the HM for a few weeks every year they have taking that time to do upgrades. The floating head, upgraded sound and video (of Leota) all happened around the same time. The attic and other upgrades happened a little later, but since most people don't visit the parks as often as some of us do I just lumped all the upgrades together.

I personally think that each HM has something to offer and neither is better in my opinion. Mostly because were WDW's has some strengths it also has some weaknesses (the lack of Hallway to start), and the same for DLR. I think they are both great and individually unique. I love them both like the children I don't have. :)

Thank you everyone! My only visit to DL was in Dec. when the HM had the holiday overlay....so I wasn't sure how it appeared originally. I suspect that it might be closed during my visit this January to remove the overlay...just my luck!

I'm looking at the dates Jan 11th-15th...do you think maybe I'll get lucky and it'll be done by then?

Can someone tell me when the overlay is taken down and about how long does it take?

Thanks!

Typically the second week of January and it takes approx. 2 weeks to open back up.
