Historical insight question:

How did WDW handle refunding park admissions after that half day preceding Charley?

For example, they might have handed out one day admissions good for a future day, but that would have been time consuming when it was necessary to evacuate the parks quickly.

Does the computer system work in such a way that a day could simply be wiped out of the data banks in one maneuver and then all hopper passes etc. used that day would in the future be regarded as not used that day?

On 9/11/01, when parks closed around noon, we were handed 1 day tickets on our way out of park. It was not time consuming at all. Only "complaint" if you will, was that we had used a hopper day to get in, but were only compensated with a non-hopper ticket.

I believe, I read somewhere here that after Hurricane Charley, they simply used the computer to put all tickets back to unused for that date. (You actually explained it better.)

THe computers did not count the day of Charleys arrival, Friday the 13th. We have AP so it did not matter, but my daughter's friend had a hopper, so she got an extra half day in the park on Friday.

On Aug 13th We was handed a notice that the multi day ticket and single day tickets were not being charged as we went through the gates. They they said if you had one that expired like a ultimate hopper you had to check with your front desk.

My brother had an UPH that was the last day of use.
He was given one day UPHs.

We were lucky. We checked in on the 13th and were going to activate our AP vouchers. Couldn't until the 14th. So, now they are good until 8/15/05!!! But everyone else got a free day.

we had purchased 2 day tickets from Guest Relations at the resort day of arrival (then off to DTD). friday morning, i went to GR and was told i could get a refund or a non-expiring ticket to return some day in the future.....since i had the money for the tickets this year, i took the non-expiring ticket. i also requested, and received, a later checkout (while we were waiting for bil to pick us up from resort). they said since it was an act of God (or Mother Nature), they are allowed to refund/compensate. if we didn't have ds (5 1/2yo) with us, we would have been at the park that Friday morning....but, ds was so worn out from commando-ing park day before , he didn't even wake up until 9:30am!!
