how long do you generally wait before chasing up emails to private villa owners?

we returned nearly 2 weeks ago and had not heard anything from the owner, so i sent an email to him.
said we had a good time, and please arrange for our deposit to be returned.this was monday, and weve had no response.

my dh says to leave til monday-ie give him 7 days, but i think its unprofessional to not reply within a few days.

what do you guys think? whats the norm?:confused3

Did you have a contract? If so, what does the contract say about the return of the deposit and how much time the owner has to return it?

In my experience with booking a villa, a deposit refund within 2 weeks is normal. It seems inconsiderate for the owner to not have responded to your email. I'm sure he didn't wait 5 days to respond when you told him/her you wanted to reserve the property.

You might consider waiting another week and then if you don't get a response or refund, a follow up email threatening to post a negative review of your stay could do the trick.

We returned on a Saturday. I got an email from the owner on Monday saying that we left the townhouse in excellent condition and that our deposit check would be returned to us via US mail. I had the check by the end of that week. I think it would be reasonable to contact the owner if you hadn't heard anything after 7 days.
