hi everyone. my friend and i are going in about 10 days to wdw. we are staying at por and we are trying to figure out if we should get a refrigerator or not in our room. we know if we had one we would definitely use it for drinks and things, but we are not sure if we should spend the money if we are not going to use it that much. i actually think it would only be $50 or so for it. do you think it is worth getting a refrigerator in the room? can we request a refrigerator during our stay and not at check in if we decide that we do need one? thanks for any help.

We rented a fridge eveytime we have been in a room. It was always nice to have and not to deal with ice in a cooler. You can request one at anytime during your stay.

If you get one from the hotel, it's expensive. I think it's $10.70 each day.

If you just want it for drinks, my recommendation is to get a styrofoam cooler, fill it with ice from the machine, and keep your drinks in there. That will work with things like milk if you're good about chaning the ice, and it's perfect for bottled water and soft drinks.

you never really think about it, but its actually cheaper to buy an electric cooler or even a small fridge that you can take with you and then you can use it every time you go as opposed to renting one for $10 a day. Some people who are staying at least a week will buy one of those college dorm fridges and just leave them in the room.

Tomorrow Target has the coleman electric cooler going on sale.I think that it has gotten good reviews here. It will be about another 30 for the adapter. It is $69 on sale. We usually have a soft side cooler and use the ice in a ziplock bag it works okay as long as you replenish the ice everyday.

One other consideration--PO has refillable mugs. $10 for mug and free refills the length of your stay--soda and coffee. May lessen the need for a fridge.

thanks for all your help. i don't think we are going to get a cooler or anything b/c we are both flying and we wont have a car while we are there. i do have the refillable mugs from my stay last year and will buy new ones if we need to this year but it ll depends on how lazy/tired we are each day :D thanks again for the advice!

We've taken the same collapsable cooler on three stays to WDW. Just put ice in it every day and it works great for milk, juice & soda. The stays were at POR, Swan & Dolphin. We put towels under it in case, but never had any problems. When you're ready to go home just fold it up & put it in your suitcase!
