A coworker is going to AS Movies next weekend with her family. A much needed family vacation after a year of medical issues. Can she get a free refrigerator for medical needs? She needs to keep her meds refrigerated. What does she need to do? Thanks for your help.

She needed to request it at the time the reservation was made and will also need a doctors note (some CM's will ask for one and otehr will not). They will just ask basics for why she needs it and I believe its 2.4 cubic feet but I could be wrong on that.

Just call now and have the request put on their reservation. Make sure it's noted that it's for medical needs. I really don't think a doctor's note is needed if the medicine is labeled that it needs to be refrigerated. But it wouldn't hurt. But she won't need anything right now to call and make the request.

I've got diabetes and have stayed several times and never had to produce a doctor's note, not one CM asked for any. In 2004 we were a party of 11 and had 3 rooms and we all had diabetes (3 sisters and families) and they never questioned it. This was at ASMov HTH. :thumbsup2

Thanks to everyone who posted!

We ended up getting a letter from the oncolgoy/nuclear medicine department, added her reservation number, dates of stay, and reason for medicine refrigeration. It was faxed to All Star Movies. In addition, we have signed copies that she will take with her to present at the desk, if needed. Hopefully, this will cover all bases!

We just got back from Pop and were able to get a fridge. All we had to say was that it was for medical reasons. They didn't ask any questions. My son has autism and is an extremely picky eater so it was just easier to bring his food. They also allowed us to bring a microwave to Pop.

FYI: It is againt the ADA to ask for a doctor's note. All you have to so is ask. I would call before hand, so it can be put in the room ahead of time, so she can put her meds in it right away.
