My 2y old daughter has kidney reflux and is on daily medication. I just realized that I'll need a refridgerator while at AKL next week. I really don't want to have to budget in $50 for 5 days of a fridge for her 1 bottle of medication. But then I read somewhere that they'll give you a fridge complimentary for medical reasons. Do you think we fall in this grouping? I feel like I would sound silly requesting a "free" fridge for 1 bottle of medicine. Has anyone had experience in this?

My 2 1/2 year old daughter has that too!!!! We are going in April and I was thinking the same thing. I did read they give you the fridge for free if you need to store medicine. I think we would fall under that category for the antibiotics. But my pharmacist says that amoxicillian does not need to be refridgerated. But on the bottle it says to keep in fridge, so I always have. And I would feel better if I did keep it in one. Let me know if you hear anything, but I think it would not be a hassle to tell them that you would like one.

I'd suggest calling Disney and telling them your situation ~ just ask them what they can do. I'm sure they'll try to help if possible.

When my son was 2 we traveled to England while he was taking medications that needed refrigeration. We just took a small igloo cooler (I think it's a mini playmate) for the meds and refilled it with ice each day. Worked great for the meds! Although, it's not as easy to find ice in England as I would have thought ~ ah....but that's another story :)

My DH has diabetes and needs to keep his insulin cool, if I had gone through our travel agent Virgin holidays, we would have charged us $10.00 a day regardless as to weather or not it is needed for medicine and that is quite a bit of money for a 2 week holiday! So I rang Special Reservations at 407-939-7807 and spoke to the nicest bloke and he sorted one out for us for free. He said it is about the size of a shoebox which is plenty of room for what we need it for, ring them!
Cheers!

I stayed at AKL last xmas-new years, and I needed a refrigerator for my insulin I was taking during my pregnancy.
I requested it when I made my reservation, and I was told it would be no charge because it was for medical reasons.

When I arrived at AKL all I had to do was ring the front desk, and they delivered one to my room.

Yes, we've been told the same thing too, it doesn't HAVE to be refridgerated, but it says to and we always have. And we recently found out that real cold is the only way Julia will take it. We stayed in Orlando (not disney) a few weeks ago and we stayed in one hotel that had a fridge 2 nights and the last night moved to DD marriott with no fridge so I tried to give it to her room temperature and she wouldn't touch it. 6 days is an awfully long time to take a risk on her taking or not taking her meds.

So should I call now or just wait until we get there to request a comp fridge?

I'd call now and have them note it on your ressie.

We got back a few weeks ago and also needed a frig for medication. The size is exactly what Ella described. A gallon of milk will not fit into it, but it was perfect for DD's medicine. Call and have it noted on your reservation.
