Refresh works again

Can someone explain this "refresh" to me?
I booked fp+ for out trip and couldn't get some rides period let alone time we didn't care for.
For example Flights of Passage, everyday/time slot was filled no matter if I tried 4 people all the way to 12.
Both the new TS rides I could only get 4 and 6 for out of 12 people too.

Generally speaking when people say “refresh” they are talking about using the app day-of to look for or change FPs. The premise is that there are thousands of people changing, adjusting, and deleting plans in real-time in the park all the time, so if you refresh enough you have a good chance of capturing FPs released as people tinker with plans.

It is generally easier to use refreshing for a smaller party size. 12 can be very difficult as the odds just aren’t in your favor for most major to mid-major rides.

When you talk about refreshing, are you adding FP you don't already have, or modifying existing FP plans? Like I have 3 FP for each day of our trip. How can I use this refresh to my best advantage? Do I have to wait until I use my 3 FP first then try to refresh for more FP? Im confused lol

Modifying is way easier than trying to get a new attraction, but if a hard to get one pops up grab it even if the time doesn’t work, then modify.

Yes, for more FP you must have scanned into your final FP... It doesn't have to be 3. You could choose only 2 FP and then use refresh for 3, 4, 5... same day.

I think, in this case, 'taking in the surroundings' does not mean the landscaping in the queue. It means having meaningful conversations with family and friends you are in line with. Are the kids excited about the upcoming ride? Will they admit to closing their eyes on Rock N Rollercoaster"? Was that them screaming on Tower of Terror? Those are things that are important to me, and I'm afraid I would miss out on those things refreshing the entire time I am in line.

I understand that it works for some people and I am not judging. People that refresh may be able to spend more time at the resort because they can get everything done quicker. So, they can have those conversations outside the park. I just prefer to have them in the moment. I rely more on a solid plan that admittedly will not be perfect, but reduces the amount of time I feel like I need to refresh.

I don't see any reason why you couldn't have those conversations while refreshing at the same time. My family and I have zero problem doing it. It's really a ton less time-consuming and distracting than I think some people believe it is.

My fiance and I talk plenty while we stand in line or walk and refresh. We dont miss a thing. We do it to move our times so we accomplish more and dont wait in lines or get extra fps to hard to get attractions. You do it same day and it tends to work well. You also dont have as much success with larger groups.

Exactly. By the time my family went into the restroom and washed their hands, I had our next FP waiting. It took less than a minute. Not sure how I missed out on anything, as I am female and could not go into the men's room to have a conversation with my husband and sons, lol.

Maybe it’s just me, but I definitely cannot concentrate enough to follow a conversation while I’m refreshing. I mean, yeah, I try, but I miss half of what’s being said.

I still try to use refresh, but I’m finding with each trip, it’s harder and taking longer to move fp’s and/or find something worthwhile.
