Refinancing? Skip Wachovia!

They had a good rate so we thought we would try it, but I have never received such absolutely horrible customer service related to finances in my life. If you want details, PM me. I thought I should warn anyone I could! :headache:
 
We have Wachovia, I think there great! I had no problem last year refinancing. We had World Savings for our mortgage lender for the pass 23 years, and they got bought by Wachovia, the man I dealt with was great, no problems for me :goodvibes
 
We have Wachovia too and we have always had great custommer service. When we refinanced in Dec 06 the guy we started with actually was changing branches sort of in the middle of the deal and he made sure we were taken care of by the new guy and followed up by calling from his new branch several times. We are definitely not rich customers that they need to keep happy either. :goodvibes
 

We have Wachovia for our vehicle loan....but I'd love to hear how they treated you for your mortgage. Do you have good/excellent or poor credit? Was there a reason that they denied you?

We have literally almost perfect credit (in fact, we never have to even supply any documentation of income or anything). Our credit was not the issue, pulling our credit was! They use some kind of 3rd party company to pull from all 3 agencies and they could not get around our credit freeze (even after we lifted it, twice, and paid $120 to do so and they had our pin numbers) for over 2 weeks. The customer service was a nightmare. The rep I was working with never returned my calls. The supervisor never returned my calls. I had to call the company they used to pull it myself and work with tech support to try to get around their problems. This is our 5th mortgage and I have NEVER been so disappointed. When I first called the rates were 5.61 and by today, still no resolution on just pulling our credit reports after probably 10 hours of time, the rate is 6.27. Maybe they used to be ok in the past, but I'd avoid them now at all costs. I'll stick with my local credit union! I can't believe a lender as big as Wachovia can't pull a credit report!!!
 
sorry to hear that. I seriously wonder where the good customer service went. I swear I havent seen it with my experiences lately. My issue is with National City. They took over our local bank that I just love. we have been with them forever. well we have 2 checking accounts. one that is designated for dh for his gas and food expenses for the FD. well I noticied the day prior to us leaving for our vacation that he had negative balance on his account. I looked immediately and found a pending transaction for gas on his card. ( I had told him previously not to use it since I wasnt putting any money in it while we were away on vacation. He pulled the wrong card out obviously) I transferred the money to cover the pending transaction and off we went. ugh... 1.5 weeks later when we get back and have internet service (none in the mountains where we were) The bank charged us a $36 overdraft fee and another $8.00 a day while we were gone.. :scared1: I called immediately and explained our situation. Told them to check our other account to see our charges from that date on and that it verified we were out of town and didnt get our mail or internet banking to know this error. Do you think they cared? not at all. I paid the negative balance. dh went up to close his account and the kids savings account and went over to suntrust where he has another checking account and our car loans with. After I stop my direct deposits for my jobs Im going to close our other checking account too. sorry to high jack your vent but poor service seems to be more prevalent than good service these days. so sorry! I hope you found a great rate with another bank.
 
That is what really got me - horrible customer service. There were no apologies and no efforts to try to resolve the issue on their end. I think it is nuts that I had to try to figure out their technical issues as a consumer! I guess this refi wasn't meant to be so now we'll keep watching! :confused3
 
I have been banking with Wachovia for 28 years and my brother for 24, we are both ready to close our accounts and move. We both reached this point independantly, using different branches in different cities and were surprised that both our experiences had been so bad. I have direct deposit that for 20 plus years went in the last thursday night of the month, my official payday is friday. I have arranged many autopayments for the last Friday. Now, on 3 occasions when my account was low, they have held the deposit and processed the checks from largest to smallest, dropping my account below 0. they hit me with 300.00 fees for bounce fees, then deposited my check immediately after. My employer still sends the money on Thurs., no changes. Other months when my balance is fine, they still deposit on Thur. My brother had the EXACT same thing happen, so this is a software change at Wachovia meant to maximize fees.
