I've heard about the mugs to purchase and they sound like a great idea. What is offered as drinks for these? Coffee? Milk? Tea? Soda?

Different resorts offer different items .Most do the Soda and Coffee .Some do juice others slushies.

We got our mugs at the POP and were able to get lots of things to drink. Soda, coffee, juice, hot chocolate, and slushies. We felt they were very much worth the money.

We got ours at POP last summer and they were such a money saver! You could put anything in them (no one is really checking up on it, and we weren't told of any restrictions) and they fit nicely into mini bookbacks if thats what you're taking to the park. We filled them on the way to the buses, then stuffed paper towels in them and refilled at the end of the night on the way up to our room. We only stayed at the resort for 5 days and I still think I saved tons of money on drinks by purchasing one!

At POP we were able to get any soda, frozen cokes, a frozen blueberry slushie, apple juice, coffee, tea, hot choc, and lemonade.

We did the mugs for each of us. They were a great deal! The longer you are staying the better. They had soda, diet and regular, iced tea, lemonade, coffee, hot chocolate. Lots of choices! We used it for all meals but would fill up a drink while we sat at the pool for the afternoon and would walk to the station to get a hot chocolate before bed each night. They are also a great souvenior as we still have and use them a year later!

if you or a member of your family doesn't drink alot of soda, etc. I think the mugs are awesome if you use them and certainly well worth the price. But, on our last trip to AKL we only bought one mug (for me as I am addicted to soda) but I only used it twice the entire time (and then I only used it for hot chocolate as it was freezing at night). So basically, at that time I paid 6.00 per mug of hot chocolate (mugs are probably 2.5 cups each at AKL).

Keep in mind that we did the whole grocery store run before check in so I purchased soda and bottled water that way.

Again - it is a good deal if you use it "alot" but if you think you won't use it much I wouldn't pay for it.

Thankfully we were given our mugs by friends who had been to our resort recently. I would be so angry if I had spend money on them.

The refillable mugs *seem* like a good idea, until you realize that unless you want to run them back to your room is the morning, you need to lug them through the parks all day. And if you do leave them behind in the room, after a long day in the parks, you will need to hike to your room to get the mugs, then hike back to the main food court, then back to your room.

Instead, for $65 (four mugs would be $48), we ordered soda, bottled water, milk, juice, breakfast and lunch foods and paper products from WeGoShop.
THAT is the REAL bargain!!!

Does anyone know if the options are the same at ASMO as POP, and do they have hot chocolate all day, year round? TIA for help :sunny:

We've never had a problem with using mugs purchased in past years, but can anyone tell me if they're cracking down on using non-2006 mugs? We always stay at the ASMo and our mugs are a few years old. We only do breakfast at the resort and maybe a late night soda run. Nothing in between. Will we run into any issue by not purchasing the current editions? :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsboy:

ASMovies does have hot chocolate all year. If I remember right, the slushie was cola flavored but we haven't been there in a couple of years.

Likely not. And likely not.

But is it the right thing to do? Likely not, especially if your mugs are the type that say they are only good for the length of your (original) stay. When the mugs first came out in the mid-1990s, some CMs (and maybe the signage near the mugs also?) said the mugs included free refills for life.

However, I know when we were at Disney in 2000 and 2003, the current refillable mug policy was in effect which is: the refillable mug is valid for the length of your stay only, at the resort you are staying at only. While it is a frequently abused system, it is WDW policy, and bottom line is that if you return to a resort, you must purchase a new mug (though those that still have one of the "original" refillable mugs could make a strong case if they were promised refills for a lifetime).

Getting free "refills" (or are they "fills" if you didn't pay for the mug in the first place?) in mugs obtained in this manner is obviously against Disney policy. Why not just take styrofoam or paper cups and fill them up with pop? It's the same expense to Disney and the same amount of revenue to Disney as using a friend's mug purchased during a previous stay.

First, thank you for the info about the coacoa and slushies. I will be getting a couple of the mugs for sure when I come next year...

As for the old mugs, why bother to lug the big boys around? Just use your water bottle you had earlier in the day, or take a cup that someone left behind on the table. Its not stealing... After all, its just a little coke or coffee :rotfl:

I just would like to know what the wego shop is that is ref. to????
