I was wondering if they still had the regular refillable mugs you can purchase, and then pay a minimal amount to refill. (Not Coke Freestyle or the select Resort Freestyle mugs). I thought I read somewhere that they discontinued this program. TIA

Yes they still have them. We used it there 2 weeks ago. $15.99 plus tax if my memory serves me right. The price goes down if you buy more than one too. Think we paid $8-9 the following day to restart it.

We could not find the regular mugs when we were there in November, and we looked EVERYWHERE. I know the butterbeer plastic mugs qualify, but with no lid and a fairly small cup, not really worth it.

They have the regular mugs everywhere now and each stall has a sign advertising them too.
OP is asking about the non-freestyle refillable mugs that you pay a discounted price for each refill, rather than a subscription that includes all day refills for free. For those of us who only really want one or two beverages a day, it was cheaper that way.

They don't advertise this, but you can get individual refills on the Freestyle cups now. They basically merged the two programs into one without really announcing it.

Ah ok. Apologies.

Oh, ok, thanks for this!

It was news to me too. I found out from the Annual Passholder Community on FP and confirmed with the Orlando Informer Community. If someone tells you they won't sell you a single refill (which apparently does happen because even Universal Team Members aren't 100% clear on the policy) just try again somewhere else).

According to these communities, all refillable cups are now eligible for $1.50 single refills or you can reactivate Freestyle cups for the regular price. As someone who is unlikely to drink 6 sodas in a day (or even 3), the $1.50 option is preferable.

help me understand-

there's the freestyle w/the high initial price/unlimited 1 day refills/pay to reactivate next day (is that at a lower than original purchase price?)

some kind of deal w/a park refillable mug that provides refills at $1.50? (how much do these run for initial mug purchase?)

are park mugs (either type) exclusive to the park they are purchased in or if you buy one say at ioa and then go to volcano bay the next day you could reactivate (or do the $1.50 refills extend beyond the day of purchase)?

what is the resort mug deal? are they only good at the particular resort you've purchased it at? approx cost?

i'm sooooooooooo confused. does any place in the parks sell PLAIN/non sweetened or flavored iced tea?

It's complicated. LOL

A Coke Freestyle Cup currently costs $15.99+ tax. There are other refillable mugs out there such a souvenir cups and character cups. I don't think any of them are less expensive. Also, if you buy multiple mugs at the same time, you can get a discount on the initial price. And there are AP discounts as well. Those discounts are only applicable at certain locations. Kiosks generally won't give you the AP discount.

The Freestyle mugs come with unlimited free refills on the day you purchase them. After that, you have a choice. You can pay $8-9 to reactivate them for a day. (Unsure of the exact price). That gets you unlimited refills for another day. Or you can pay $1.50 per refill. If you drink a lot of soda, it makes sense to reactivate for the day. If you will only get a few refills, you're better off paying for them one at a time.

None of this is very clearly documented anywhere. All of it is subject to change and Universal Team Members don't apply the rules consistently. So, your best bet is just to ask and if you don't like the answer ask someone else.

Great explanation! It is very confusing!

You can still get the regular cups. I saw them in the main store right inside the entrance 2 weeks ago. This past trip we did buy a freestyle cup, however, because we noticed on a previous trip it was harder to find places that would refill the other cups ( we have a transformer and sponge bob).

Thanks. I tried searching and really couldn't find a clear answer on this.

I realize this is a bit off topic, but this was a nice option last fall. During HHN, if you had a Frequent Fear HHN pass, you could get a (rather expensive upfront cost) refillable Freestyle cup that allowed free refills during the day and night for each day of HHN. It was a huge money saver for us, and I really hope they offer it again this year.

Oooo this is really good to know as I was umming and erring about buying a freestyle cup, but knowing that I can pay for individual refills at $1.50 a (soda) pop would suit me just fine, they are big cups for me, and now they have the new cups without any handles, which is obviously in response to the recent locker charge hoo-ha, thats great news.

Also, I'll also have my own refill cup with a screwtop lid, if I want to go on a ride, I'll empty the water from that, pop the soda in it, do the ride, pop the soda back into the refill mug eh voila! I havent had to waste anything I've paid for, great thinkers us Ravenclaws!

I saw a new design on FB last night and it looked like they might have screwtop lids. They also had a new sign out making the $1.50 option more obvious.

Thanks for the pic. I wish they had handles so I could attach it to my crossbody with a carabiner! If I want to carry this around I’ll have to use my drawstring backpack.
