It's our first trip to Disney and I've heard a little about the mugs. There are 4 of us. Can anyone tell me how much they cost? I know someone that went to Disney in March, can I use their mug for one of us? I hate to have to buy 4 of them. Thanks.

I think the mugs are around $12-$14 each. Out of them you get as much soda or coffee as you want. It pays for itself in its first few uses. I did see some people however who had really old mugs and were still using them but from what I know you are supposed to get new ones every time you go on vacation to Disney. None of the castmemembers said anything to them. They change the logos and cup design based on the season. During the holidays you will find mugs with snowflakes etc..

The mugs run around $15.00 each and you will need to get one for every person unless they are willing to share. It is worth it though because they can get drinks all day long ... No, you can't use an old mug because they change it out.

Think about whether or not your kids will drink any of the fountain drinks or not. You can not get milk or juice for the mugs. You can only get fountain drinks, coffee, tea (hot and cold) and hot chocolate. Is it really worthwhile to get the mugs for kids? If your kids will drink these then IMO it's very much worth the cost and makes a great souvenir as well. For my family, it's only worth buying mugs for the adults.

Is there a list with all the locations where you can use these mugs? I know we got one when we stayed @ Port Orleans and it was useful, but don't think they have a fountian at OKW...???...

Price is about 14.00 a mug.

I will refer you to the sticky thread in the resort section of the boards. As it is WDW policy that the mug is only good for the duration of the stay it was purchased.
Meaning under the rules you aren't suppose to bring the mug back to use again and again.

Not the mug police, just letting you know the policy. If you are a rule follower that is the rule, if you feel you need/want to break the rules that is for you to decide. Just wanted to give you info.

Have a wonderful trip!!

We were on the Quick Service Meal Plan last trip and the mugs were free.

Awesome! I love free things! Our dining plan is the one with a snack, quick-serve and table serve. pluto:

If I am correct the basic DDP does not come with the free mug. Only the QDDP and DDXP offer comes with the mug. But you can still buy one.

also of note it's only good at the hotels, NOWHERE else! so unless you plan on hanging out at your hotel for a day a using it quite a bit,it's not worth much...IMHO
OKW has a place to refill outside Goods... If you're like our family, and spend lots of time at the hotel, then it might be worth it to have
....what I meant to say is you can't get refills at the parks, etc.

And, depending on the resort that you are staying, the place where you can refill the mugs could be really far away! Not that I'm against a long walk, but by the time I've walked all over The World, the last thing I want to do is take a long walk to get a drink. I end up buying drinks for the room anyway, so the only time I get to use my refillable cup is when I eat at the resort..which I usually dont. After a couple of trips, I realized the refillable mugs just were not for me.

We are probably in the minority, but we bought mugs a couple of vacations back and found them to be an albatross.

It didn't mesh with what we were doing most times:

We would be leaving to get on a bus when we got drinks and didn't want to go back to the room to drop off the mugs.

or

We would be coming back from a park, and didn't want to go back to the room, get the mugs, then go get them filled.

Again, probably just us, but the mugs stayed in the hotel room, lonely, and neglected for most of the stay.

We liked them because we could fill them up b4 going to the park and then use it for water all day. Then we wouldnt have bottles to get rid of. We also refilled it at night a few times. We were close to the front of the resort though so it made it easier. I am looking forward to getting one this trip just for coffee!!!

I looked into them for when my girlfriend and I go in January, but now we're just bringing water bottles since we don't need the extra calories of soda and whatever but I totally agree on it saving you a ton of money.

How do you clean them while you're there?

Prior to leaving home, cut a paper towel into fourths, squeeze dish washing liquid onto the squares, let dry, then place in a quart zip lock bag. You can also cut a sponge into quarters and do the same thing. Of course, you could just pack a small bottle of dishwashing liquid, then you'd have it for both the mugs and in case you wanted to wash some clothing out in the sink.

Do they have tops on them? If so, are they the kind where the opening has a swivel cover?
