We're staking at the Boardwalk inn, and some people are saying these mugs are a waste of money because there isn't a lot of places to refill them. Is it worth it?

They can only be filled at your resort. I am pretty sure they can be filled with water or coffee. But this will be my first trip with a mug, so I can't say for sure.

The locations at the Boardwalk where you can use the mugs is at the Leaping Horse Libations pool bar, Seashore Sweets, and the Boardwalk Bakery.

Oh Yes! You can fill them with Coffee!

I purchased one at Beach Club's Marketplace on May 10th....got my coffee and wandered around the beautiful grounds... refillled..wandered...refilled and headed up to room... used next morning for coffee...used at Beaches & Cream (the walk up area) for Coke, refilled, Hurricane Hanna's, and back at Marketplace more refills.

We didn't stay around the resort THAT much...but I would say I used it around 10 times....so that would place the drinks at $1.40 each... PLUS I have a great Mug to use at home...

I wonder if you can use BW mugs at BC/YC? Let me know if you find out....

Have a magical visit !

We got one for everyone back in 2007, and will be doing it again this year. I heard the design is the same for all the resorts now. Might save me a little money with my split stay in December.

I think they make a great souvenir, we still use the ones from 4 years ago, so we definitely got our money's worth between the free coffee, and 4 years of use.

We usually purchase the mugs but not at the Boardwalk where it is quite a walk to refill them. There is nowhere in the hotel, that I know of, where refills are available. This is probably the only resort that I have not purchased them.

Thanks everyone!! We're going to purchase them!!! Can't wait!!

Don't be like us and wait till your 4th day into the trip to purchase them either LOL. By the time I realized that it was def. not a waste of money to get one we were already half way into our trip. We were able to fill with chocolate milk too if I recall...Nice to have one on your way to the buses in the morning too.

At BW there is a bar off the lobby - continental bfast in the morning and bar in the evening will fill them

also the pizza window

I so wish there was a self-fill at the BW.

Ok you can purchase these with out the meal plan? We will be staying at BLT and Kidani Village with DVC (Dec 3-13, 2010) does this make a difference? Also how much do they cost and how big are they?

Thanks in advance:)

Anyone can purchase them. They are good for Free Refills at the Resort where you purchased yours... (I just answered my own question above by reading the fine print on mine). Free Refills good through the end of your Resort Stay.

20-22 Ounces

$14.95 plus Tax.

Hugs,
Mary

So we need to purchase for each resort? Ohh that will be pricey. Where can we find out where it can be refilled at for the resort?

We always get them because we like fish in the hot Florida weather. Well, not quite, fish don't drink Diet Coke. At the Poly it is especially nice with a 2 minute walk to Captain Cook's.

Well - I suppose if you stay at one resort, and like refills...that makes it more cost effective.

Here is the link... The picture on this link makes the mug look much shorter than it is. I actually measured mine this morning and it DOES hold 20-22 oz.

I may get flamed, but I say that since the resort mugs are all the same now, then if you are doing a split stay, you should NOT feel guilty about using your newly purchased mug at your second resort.

I think for your split stay should be considered one Disney visit and not need to buy a 2nd mugs or feel guilty-
:thumbsup2

There is no way I am going to buy a new mug at each resort during the same vacation trip. I usually switch resorts at least once each trip. In August, we start at BWV, move to BLT, then dh goes home, and dd and I move over to VWL..there will not be three different mugs purchased!!! And I truly don't think Disney has any issue with that.

As far as using them at BW, the issue is that there are no self-serve places to refill the mugs. You have to take the mug to the refill spot (Seashore Sweets, BelleVue lounge, Leaping Horses pool bar, Bakery), show them the mug and they will fill up a paper cup for you, which you can then either drink from or pour the contents into your mug.

We have had a mug at Boardwalk several times and go back and forth on if it is worth it. They do give you a cup instead of filling the mug, so I guess it is easier to just throw the cup away when done instead of trying to rinse out your mug etc. There is usually a decent line at Boardwalk Bakery in the morning which is the only place open. For my mom, it was totally worth it because she drinks coffee like it is going out of style. Plus, she would get her coffee, then give the mug to my dad who would take it in and also get a coffee. Another benefit of them not actually filling the mug. Maybe slightly disreputable, but not a terrible idea. It is really nice to sit out by the water outside the bakery and enjoy your beverage, but a pain to bring the cup all the way back to the room.
