Refillable Mugs

I stayed at AKL last year and they had Fresca which I can substitute to feed this Diet Mountain Dew addiction I've got. Has anyone been recently and seen it there?

We went last Sept and got the mugs. Does anyone know if the mugs are different this year? Can we use the mugs we got last year? Just trying to save a buck or 12.:)

Unfortunately, your free refills expired on the day you checked out on your last trip. You'll need a new mug for this trip.

Yes -- only the water park mugs can be brought back on your next vacation (pay a $5 or $6 dollar fee for refill priviliges/new barcode application). But resort mugs cannot be brought back on your next vaca.

The mugs have a black handle this year and I think last year they had a blue handle but the mug part looks the same. We were at the BCV last week and I saw a few of the really old style mugs so it looks like they don't police the mugs that carefully.

They had the option of getting blue, black or silver handles last year. The mugs from last year had a small "2007" on one side under the character pictures, this year they do not. That is the only difference.

I have seen the question asked although I am going to ask, Is it worth it for 12.49 for a refillable mug? How easy are these to tote around the parks or are they mostly for keeping at the resort and using there? With taking my children to the parks, I would think that it would be easier to use disposable and throw away at the park then tote extra things.
:confused3 Thoughts or experiences?

I don't typically spend a lot of time at the resort but think the mug is "worth it." If you purchase 5 beverages (maybe 4?) at your resort then the amount you spend on those beverages will exceed the cost of the mug.

My typical "mug day" goes something like this:
  • Breakfast at resort CS - fill mug to drink while eating breakfast and refill on way out. I carry a tote bag with me in the parks so when I'm finished with my mug I just drop it in there - they're not very heavy but if I had 5 or 6 of them it could be a pain.
  • Get a cup of ice water at a CS location in the park (free). Transfer to mug to keep it cold.
  • CS lunch - after eating transfer any remaining beverage from paper cup to mug.
  • If I'm in Epcot in the afternoon and have a beer I transfer that to the mug. I don't like warm beer and those thin solo cups don't keep the beer cold.
  • Back to resort in afternoon - refill mug on way to room.
  • Head out late afternoon/evening - fill mug on way out.
  • Back to resort in evening - fill mug on way to room.
  • In resort room - make cocktail in mug and enjoy relaxing on the balcony.
  • Wash mug before bed and let try.

The above scenario is based on my stays at the WL. If I was at a resort where I didn't go near the CS location on my way in and out of the resort I probably wouldn't get as many refills.

They don't hold a lot - 16oz. I believe.

As you can see the mug is certainly worth it for me. It all depends on what and how much you drink. My typical beverage of choice is iced tea.

I advise bringing a small bottle of dish detergent to wash your mugs with.
