We stayed at the All Star Movies June 2006, and are staying there again this July'08. Can you bring back your old mugs and re-use them? I thought I read a post where someone said they saw a lot of people that were using their old mugs?

If you read the signs at the drink stations about the mugs, they generally say "for the length of your stay," which apparently means that it is not official Disney policy to allow re-use on a subsequent trip.

The mug design has probably changed since your last trip, now they are Year of A Million Dreams mugs.

We just got back on Thursday. They now have "special" mugs that are universal to all resorts.. I don't know if that will be the case in July. However, there were MANY people who were using the old Wilderness Lodge mugs and as far as I know, no one said a thing although the sign above the drinks did say mugs should be used only for the length of your stay.. it didn't seem to be enforced.

We saw a lot of people using the old mugs at the Pop this past September but we bought new ones and we do every year.

The policy is for length of your stay. We never bring them back - not worth the hastle to pack them and lug thme down to save a few bucks, but,
we were at YC in December and we saw CMs regularly filling old mugs - old BC/YC mugs and those form other resorts - regularly. These are not self-service locations but places where CMs fill your mug for you.
General observation - DW could care less if you bring the mugs back and do not check or enforce.
On the other hand, many on this board will tar and feather you as if you commited mass murder and your use of an old mug will end the world as we know it.

:rotfl2: LMAO !!!!! :rotfl2:
hey i say if you can save a few bucks why not...ours are pretty beat so we're getting new ones this trip in january BUT did use the same mugs last year

When we were on the Magical Express bus on 11/29, our driver was giving everyone on the bus tips on saving money at WDW. He told everyone to make sure and buy the refillable mugs, because you can bring them back on future trips and never have to pay for drinks again!

I just looked at my husband and said, "I hope there aren't any mug nazis on this bus, or that guy's gonna get it!":rotfl2:

Personally, we do take ours back, but we also buy at least one new one each time. DH uses them all the time at home, so after a while the paint starts coming off and they look bad. I finally threw away the ones from our honeymoon, but we still have some from 2005.

I always buy a new mug every trip since it is against Disney's policy to reuse mugs. Just because Disney doesn't enforce the mug rule like they should does not make it right to reuse them. Every time I see someone clearly reusing a mug I always have to shake my head, I mean the thing only costs $12, if they can't afford a new mug, how can they afford the trip in the first place!?!?!

I have about 15 of the darn things...including one from my last trip, two weeks ago, that is the new Year of a Million Dreams design. Yes, there is signage in the area where you buy the mugs that states the mugs are to be used for the lenght of the stay in which they were purchased. There is also wording to that effect on the mug itself.
Do people bring them back? Yes. I have seen many different designs at the food court drink stations. The only time I really get in a snit? When someone brings their McDonald's plastic big gulp cup up and fills that up!! At least if you're reusing your previous mugs, Disney has gotten a little something from you.
Do I bring my mugs back? I did one time. I had a POP mug, and was returning for one night/two days. I knew I wasn't going to be drinking a lot..just a soda or two and one coffee. So, yes, I brought my mug back. Does that make it right? No, absolutely not. Do I care what others are doing? No, absolutely not. If you ask the CM's about reusing the mugs, they will give you the answer you want to hear. They will also seldom say anything to a guest who is not using the 'correct' mug at the drink station.
We all know the rules, they are stated in many places. We all need to do what we think is best.

When I was recently at the Polynesian I saw some guests using old Polynesian logo mugs at Captin Cook's and the Cast Members did not say anything to them.

The policy is the mugs are good for the length of stay in which the mug was purchased.

I tend to not spend much time worrying about what others are doing. The only concern I have is that if the policy is abused too much Disney may decide to do away with the refillable mugs altogether. Then there goes our cheap souvenir each trip. :goodvibes

All mugs have the same YOAMD (kind of a dreamy, blue) logo and are dated 2007. We stayed at SSR and had them, but also had friends at AS Mo & AKL that came home with identical mugs! I know that they are only good for your length of stay, but even if someone wanted to be a bit shady, I do not see how they could use the really old ones, as all of 2007 were identical! I would imagine it will be the same for 2008... a universal mug. This is very cost effective for Disney, only paying for one design and mass production (as well as somewhat ensuring people that are using them are current guests or atleast have been there in that calendar year)!
