Hey all!
I was wondering about the refillable mugs you can buy at the Resorts. We are staying at OKW and then in June 08 we are staying at SSR. If we buy a mug this trip can we use the same mug at SSR or are they exclusive to each resort. I know at the non-DVC resorts you have to buy one at each resort.

Just wondering if it was different at the DVC resorts.

Thanks.

The rules for refillable mugs are the same for the DVC resorts as they are for the other WDW resorts.

This trip (just returned) we noticed that they have made a move to one mug for all resorts. If you buy a refillable mug at Beach Club, then if it is on the same trip (please - no big debate) you can use it all Disney resorts. They are all selling the same mug ... gone are the ones that say Port Orleans or Wilderness Lodge or Yacht Club/Beach Club ... (we have several of each) ... they are all the same.

Why bother putting info out that leads to a debate? :confused3 Mugs are good for the length of stay at the resort you bought them at. When you change resorts, you have a different length of stay.

That may have been the case before but ... this trip I talked to CMs at four of the resorts ... all deluxe resorts ... and was told that Disney made the change to one mug for all resorts so that people who were there for tens days and staying in two resorts would only have to buy one mug and not two mugs for THIS length of stay. It is still Length of stay but Disney has decided that it is better for the guest if they can use the same mug, no matter what resort they are at, for that particular length of stay.

I am not trying to start a debate ... and I said that ... I am simply letting other Disers know my experience on this last trip in Sept/Oct and what I was specifically told by several CMs and two Managers who are in a position to know. They told me if they wanted the mugs to be only used at the resort that they were purchased at that they would have stayed with the old system of a different mug for each resort. They are trying to cut down on people using it for multiple resorts by putting the year on the mug ... so that people can not use it year to year even if they travel to WDW on multiple years and stay at the same resort.

No debate -- just telling everyone what I was told. My personal opinion is the mug is for your length of stay whether it is 4 days or 14 days. On the next trip you buy a new mug.

cjsmom5,

We were told the same thing on our last trip. We stayed 3 nights at the BCV and 4 nights at the BWV. We purchased our mugs first at BCV and really enjoyed using them there because we were very close to the BC Marketplace for quick refills and we did a lot of pool time which was great for refills at HH or B&C. From all the posts I had read before our trip, I assumed that it was only ONE resort you could use them. I did not plan on purchasing them at BWV because I had read that it was not convenient to refill them there, so when I was told this, it was like a bonus for us.

When we transferred over to BWV, the first time I asked about a refill at the BW Bakery, I mentioned that we had just purchased the mug 3 days prior at the BCV. I offered to show my receipt but they said that it wasn't necessary and they told me it was considered one stay, despite changing resorts midway through.

I am not sure why this is such a hot issue on the boards. I would never try to get something over on Disney by bringing my mugs back trip after trip. But I honestly do not see why people keep insisting that they are only good at one resort, when multiple people have reported what the CMs keep telling the guests. I consider my length of stay for my trip to be 7 days, despite transferring mid way through. And apparently, Disney does too.

Hope this clears up any confusion. The mugs were dated 2007, so I guess we can assume that every year will have a new design, which will eliminate the past abuse of people reusing their original mugs for multiple trips.

Not the question you asked, but....

We've found that with a fridge in the room and the spread out nature of the DVC resorts, the mugs don't get used much. If you are going to be spending a lot of time by the pool and drink a lot of pop, they probably make more sense.

I know that we do not want a debate about this but..... when we were at the Wilderness Lodge when it opened in 1994 and the refillable mugs where new, the cast members ALL said that the mugs would be GOOD for all future stays at the lodge as their way of thanking guests and encouraging them to visit again. I brought them back once but always bought new ones since. But if people were told that, why would they think otherwise?

Since the topic of Refillable Mugs is a Resort policy and not a DVC policy, I am moving this discussion over to our Resorts Board. Thank you.

The current policy is that the mugs are good for the length of stay in which your purchased the mugs.
