Refillable mugs...

I did a search already and even through several of the mug threads, i could not find my question.

Is it true that you can now use refillable mugs at other resorts other than the resort you are staying at? I thought I read this somewhere a while back, so please dont yell at me if its not true. I am just trying to make sure I have my facts straight before I tell our friends who are going with us.

If we are staying at POR and eat dinner at Kona's in the Poly....can I refill my mug at the Poly after dinner?

Oh...and how much are the mugs now? We were there in Jan, but you never know if prices change.

The new resort mugs have the Year of a million Dreams generic logo(almost no more resort-specific mugs anymore),so you will be able to use the mugs at other resorts.

I have used resort specific mugs at other resorts, i always ask the cahsier first. 99% of the time they have no problem and say yes. Only once was told they should really only to be used where they were purchased, but I could go ahead and fill them.

'Officailly' you are only supposed to use th mug where you purchased it, but if you are asking a CM and they clear you...I really don't see what the big deal is. A refill is a refill, regardless of where it comes from, it costs Disney the same amount of money. I doubt there is every going to be an instance when a resort is so overcrowded by guest from other resorts getting free refills that there is going to be a shortage of beverages. Nevertheless, I will continue to abide by the 'only at your resort rule,' but again, if a CM tells you it's OK, I see no problem there.

Actually WDW has changed the rules when it comes to using mugs at other Resorts. The old rule which was written on them said "Free refills untill the end of your stay. Refills only at location purchased." On the YOAMD mugs they say the following, "Free refills available at our Resort Beverage Island untill the end of the stay which the mug was purchased." So as you can see by those words the YOAMD mugs they can be used at any Resort counter service location, without any problems.

Hallelujah, Praise the Lord! Disney has finally sanctioned the use of the mug in another hotel. So, all the people who felt that it was costing Disney too much money can continue not to do it. And all the folks who did it anyway can do it without posts of the dictionary definitions of "morality" and "robbery" and without being told they are terrible parents or going to hell.

That only makes perfect sense...not that I ever tote my mug with me when I am visiting other resorts, but it's nice to know I could. Now that all the mugs are the same, how would anyone know the difference anyhow?

Funny thing is, some preach about how it's 'stealing' and 'costing someone else money' yet they don't seem to feel the slightest bit of shame in taking the LGMH paint chips by the handfuls from Home Depot and sporting them, do they?

Yes it's true that every Walt Disney World Resort Hotel with a counter service location does let guests use the YOAMD mugs at any location they want and not at the Resort where they purchased their mug. Even if WDW had the same rules with the YOAMD that they had on the Resort mugs where they can't be used at other Resorts, since every Resort is selling the YOAMD mug no one would know where it was purchased at.

So each reservation is a stay. So since they are able to be used till the end of the stay in which they are purchased, you would not be able to carry them to the next resort stay and use them. It is still ONE stay at the Walt Disney World Resort. You might be in two different hotels, but it is still one stay - one trip. You can use the mug.

The next person who tries to stir up the SAWDWRMP will be whomped over the head with the refillable mug I pulled out of the cupboard.

I realize that when the new design comes out, some folks will try to use the old ones and the whole thing will start over again. But could we PUHLEEZE not have the Refillable Mug Fight until then?

I agree. A split stay is just that .... a stay as in parts of a single stay. Parts of one trip.
Feel free to use your YOAMD mug at any of the beverage Islands during your stay even if is a split-stay.

Do you actually think a guest who does a split stay would purchase the same mugs a 2nd time, after purchasing them at the 1st Resort they stayed at? It's great the YOAMD mugs are being sold at all the Resort counter service locations, because this way guests who split stays can save money on the mugs by not needing to purchase them again.

It's also great for other guests who purchase them because they like to eat at other Resort counter service locations, besides the one that is where they happen to be staying at.

I would think if you technically could use the mug at any resort it would say "Free refills available at our Resorts Beverage Islands" and not Resort (after all one resort can have more than one Island). Does "Resort" refer to WDW or to a specific resort? It also does not specifically address split stays. I think we make more rules here than Disney does. As PP said Disney didn't enforce the old rules.

Unfortunately for us we will do a split stay at CSR first then POFQ. From what I have heard CSR still has the old resort specific mug (because PM is not run by Disney?). So does that mean if we purchase a mug at CSR we would have to buy new ones at POFQ? We will do what is right, of course.

Maybe you should consider staying 1st at POFQ and 2nd at CSR and here is why. If you stayed at POFQ 1st you can purchase the YOAMD mugs and then use them later on when you check into CSR, this way you don't need to purchase a new set of mugs. Since the YOAMD mugs can be used at any Resort counter service location, you would not be doing anything wrong. Also here is something else to think about.

Before the Food & Fun Center at the Contemporary was selling the YOAMD mugs, I saw guests using them when the Contemporary was selling their own Resort mug. Now of course I don't know if the guests using the YOAMD mugs were Contemporary guests, however all I know is I saw guests at the Food & Fun Center using the YOAMD mugs when they were not being sold there.

If anyone remembers my threads when I was in WDW when I checked into the Contemporary at 1st they were selling their own Resort mugs, then a week later they switched to the YOAMD mugs. However on my last night there they had went back to the Contemporary mugs, because they had sell them out before selling the YOAMD mugs.

I think that Disney made it vague too because they were tired of the resort beverage police and this way its impossible to tell when where and how a mug was purchased.

I think they could have made it more difficult to use mugs multiple times and places if they wanted (bar codes) but they went the exact opposite way by going with a generic mug that no one can tell when or where it was purchased from.
