refillable mugs

Recently at POP, a manager and a guy in front of me were discussing the mugs. The manager said "technically we are supposed to restrict usage of the mugs but we never do. Nobody really cares." I just had to chuckle.

Last August when speaking to a Cast Member about the mugs, he told me that he has a mug from the Wilderness Lodge which he always uses at the All Star Resorts. I asked him are you serious and he said yes I am, so later on I had a good laugh after he told me that.

I have seen CM's stop people from using their old mugs. So your mileage may vary.

i brought back 1 mug last summer to the music. we went by amtrak train , so i thought of it before we left, but while we were there we saw alot of other people with all star mugs, some had a couple that had a little diff. pic. on it, and it was funny to see all the cms chatting to them about the diff. mugs through the years. we even chatted also, a few of the cms was just talking about how people collect them and etc. i only would of had my mug just at the all star were we stayed the year before. if we go to a new hotel , i of course would buy new ones, esp. for souv. im hoping they will have the reg. mugs if we do get to go in sept. i like them better.

I have reservations for POR for September. My last trip to WDW was several years ago when it was Dixie Landings. I have a refillable mug that I purchased on that trip that was supposed to be good for return visits but of course now the resort has changed names. Does anyone know if POR would honor the Dixie Landings mug? I don't want to pack it if they won't honor it.

by the way, to the OP, my PT is electric blue with a multicolored 2006 WDW front license plate and black mouse ears on the antenna. i cant give anybody the finger that pulls out in front of me cause its the only one like it in my area. i would be to easy to find and beat up.

I don't know what the average is, but I'm guessing that on the low end people spend $4000? on an average Disney trip for a family with transporation?? And people try and take advantage of $11.99 pp? That just amazes me.

Dude I want to live in your world. I've never spent more then $1,500 on a Disney trip and we usually stay 9 or 10 days. Our last trip (Nov 05) was 1,000 plus food. So yeah, that extra $12 per person can be a drag. I'm happy to pay it, but if I bought a cup that's supposedly good for life, you bet I'm going to take advantage of it.

Tell me if I'm looking at this the right way.
We have never taken advantage of the mug thing.
It seems like a great deal if you have easy access to a food court. For us, it might be more of a hassle to carry the mugs and try to seek out drink dispensers (we are usually at OKW). Am I wrong? Can I hand 'em across a counter and say, "Hit me, seargent!" ?
I think I'd like a mug just for a souvenier! How the HECK do you spell souve ... er ... souv ... ah ... souven ... oh never mind!

Usually at the Resort counter service locations once you purchase the mug, you get the drinks yourself. I think the expection is at the Boardwalk where the Cast Member fills it up for you, because they don't have what I would like to a call a true counter service location.

It has been awhile since we have been at Disney. We got the mugs the last time and intend on doing it again. Just wondering if the mugs for the YOAMD are useable throughout Disney and not just at the resorts?

A couple of weeks ago on the Dis roundtable Podcast, I thought I heard one of them say that Disney doesn't pay for the pop on site. Coke provides it all free as part of their "official" drink of Disney contract. That's why Disney doesn't care.

If Disney is not paying Coca Cola for their products, how is it costing them money to let them have free advertising? I am sure all the people who purchase their products around WDW make up for it, because you still have guests getting drinks in paper cups, bottles and the guests who are always purchasing mugs at $11.99 per person.

How much it costs Disney is really not the issue I don't think.

Yes, of course there is a cost (big or small) and whatever it is, Disney has disregarded it in favor of Guest Satisfaction.

There is a policy -- the policy is clear - Good at the Resort Beverage Islands For the Duration of Stay of Purchase. People can and have disregarded that and historically speaking Disney hasn't enforced this policy.

Disney can enforce this.. and Guests should be aware they could at some point in the future.

Its not costing Disney anything in advertisement,they are not the ones advertising the product Coca Cola is!! Coca Cola is the official drink provider of Disney they are basically providing refreshment for Walt Disney world guest, and FYI its not like you can get Pepsi products onsite!! so you really don't have much of a choice. Disney buys the product from CC at whole sale. and intern for the discount, CC gets its advertisement as the official drink of WDW. We learned this one the hard way since DGM only drinks diet Pepsi, so she goes through with drawls, while she did find it at resort store, it was unlikley to find it anywhere else. They really push the coke thing down your throat!!

speaking of that, does any one know if that CC products sample thing is still in Epcot?? that attraction is really cool, and some of them are really gross!!!!
