Refillable mugs temporarily unavailable

At Aulani now. Tried to buy a refillable mug and was just told the program was “discontinued” 2 weeks ago, and they don’t know if they’ll be bringing it back. All of the machines except for the one near the gift shop next to the pools have been removed or covered.

Yes, there’s been some conversation about this. Others were told it’s temporary while they await new machines.

It’s unclear what the actual plan is.

I'll bet they're going to be chipping the mugs with date restrictions, so no bringing back old mugs.

Maybe it was just an anomaly, but when we were there in May, multiple of the Freestyle machines were having issues.

I'm assuming that they were limping them along and now enough of them died that it's not worth it?

Yes, this doesn't affect the mugs at Disney World.

It wouldn't be the first place to ditch Freestyle machines. A few restaurants near me have switched back after they've had problems.

I was just there end of August and at least 3 of the 5 machines were messed up in some way (no ice, flat soda, all seltzer flavor).

Can you fill up a personal water bottle with water somewhere? What about coffee? is there any option for refillable coffee?

The Ulu Cafe was working a month ago but not the others. I hope they just leave the one in the middle by the gift store. They could do away with Ulu and make money from take away drinks. It is not good to the environment tho. I hope they do the responsible thing to preserve Hawaii.

Apparently regular soda machines were installed at Ulu today.

So have the refillable mugs been discontinued or did they just replace the Freestyle machines?

There are reports they are restocking the refillable mugs and will start selling them again tomorrow.

instead of “discontinued” if reports of them going back up for sale within the next week are confirmed

According to a couple of FB reports, it seems that this has been confirmed. Not sure if they are selling the refillable mugs again yet, but the Freestyle machines have been replaced with old-school Coke machines.

Refillable mugs are back and currently being sold. I know this because they came back the day after I left and we just missed them..
