Refillable mugs question

What are the current rules for using refillable mugs over again on future trips? We bought our All-Star mugs 2 years ago. Is it acceptable for us to use them again this year?

I suggest you do a search on this topic. This is one of the hot issues on the boards.

The official policy is that the mugs are good for length of stay when purchased. There are signs up in the food court areas of most resorts.

The policy is clearly posted in the rooms (and of which I did take a digital photo) at the All Stars resorts that the mug can only be used for the duration of the visit during which the mug was purchased. Period.

But then again, a CM at the register where I bought the mug told me to keep bringing it back on subsequent visits and that I could use it indefinitely. Somehow, I think that the written policy is more likely the one in effect.

FYI - I believe that the prices stated on wdwig may not be current. I'll have to check, but I think that the price for the 12 oz mug at the All Stars might be $12.99, not $10.99 as stated on Deb's website.

Her prices were good as of 12/02. Would not shock me to see they had gone up.

Look at the sign by the elevator on the second floor of Music..oh nuts..I can't remember the building..but it's the second building on the right. Oops..they fogot an old sign : ) It's a pre length of stay sign. I don't want to quote it in case I get a word wrong.
There is an official "rule" from Disney and then the rule that is quoted by the cm's and food court manager. You get to pick, depending on your comfort level and how you feel about what you were told. It seems to be one of the many unenforced until they decide to rules at the mouse's house. Some people feel they need to follow the signs, and not the food court managers, who are still telling people they are good forever, and others follow what they were told. And still others fill up cups from the 7-11.

We just got back from ASMo...there is a sign at the food court and in the room, that says during that stay only! They are now $11.99.......the mug is exactly like the one we purchased there last year, no change at all!!! I saw people using Planet Hollywood kid's glasses and a Popcorn bucket! One lady had 5 disposible cups with her and they filled those!

I appreciate the info, everyone! Thanks--and thanks for not flaming me. Sounds like I was treading a bit close to a hornet's nest of a topic! Now that I know the official mug rules, my crew will abide by them. ::yes::

You were probably not flamed cause you asked a question in a manner that would not incite flames. :) What catches the attention of the flamers are questions like : I know I saw the sign, but, can I get away with it. ;)

Just back from BWV last week, and my new mug, sitting here on my desk, says:

Free refills until the end of your stay.

Refills only at location purchased.

The text is sideways, written where the mug's handle is (between the two points where the handle attaches to the mug).

FYI, we were originally given Lilo & Stitch mugs from Summer '02, because they were out of the BW mugs. By the end of our stay, they had the new mugs (but I don't know if this refill disclaimer is new to these mugs or not), and they allowed us to switch. The new mugs are not dated.

Also, regarding the "location purchased" statement above, my wife bought them at the Boardwalk Bakery, but we were able to refill at a number of locations on/at the BW.

Tim,
Thanks for the info on mugs at BWV. We'll be staying there in a couple of months. What's the new design on the mugs and do you remember what you paid for them? TIA

The latest BW mugs might be the same design as in the past (my last visit was 9/2000, when we got "Fall 2000" mugs, not BW-specific). They are white with a red handle, with a Boardwalk scene featuring Donald & Daisy.

The price on 9/26 (at 2:35pm) was $9.99 + tax = $10.64

ok maybe I am just looking for things but why in the world are the mugs at the "value" resorts more expensive than the ones at the "deluxe" resorts?? seems like it is backwards there..maybe they figure the value patrons use the food court more at their own resort but really, can't they afford to give the family with the fewest funds the biggest break!?! ( maybe I am just irritated cause right now I am trying to trim my food costs with out eating hamburgers more than occasionally!)

This is the price list from Deb's site. Maybe, the prices went down.
Not likely, but, I am thinking positve. http://wdwig.com/mugs.htm

Jann,
You can buy a refillable at any resort, but, you have to go to that resort to have it refilled.
As to the coffee, I have no idea.

My only post on the thread (I promise)!

I am sorry, but the wording has changed when I was at ASSp in September. I wish I had taken a picture of it, but I didn't :(.

I am a "live and let live" person on mug refills. Bring your old mugs. You'll be fine. Unless, of course, the mug police are around ;).
