refillable mugs - how do they work

we will be on the QSDP; which means we get a refillable mug.
i know this can only be used at the resort we are staying at, but what are the rules on when you can fill it (if any). in other words does it mean you can get unlimited refills only when you order a meal, or can you go in whenver you like and help yourself to a drink.
i thought it was the latter of the two, but after seeing other posts in other threads, i'm not so sure

Whenever you like. You do not have to order a meal.

Some resorts (I believe some of the deluxe resorts) do not have a refill station, and you must ask cast members for a refill at counter service locations. At those resorts you will be able to refill mugs only when the refill locations are open for business.

We loved our refillable mugs. We usually filled them up in the morning at the resort (value). It gave us something to drink while waiting for the bus. Then when we get to park we get a locker and put our backpack in there and mugs. (This way we keep extra pack of clothes (lil kids) and other mis add ons we can't go without but don't want to carry with. Then when we get off the bus we have our mugs and fill them at the resort. It was a pain to get off the bus in the heat. Then walk to the room to get the mugs. Then we had to go back and fill it. With 5 people this saved a lot of time and little ones getting mad cuz they wanted a drink.

And they work great for years and years at home. I have some that go back to 1995 and use them for coffee on the way to work and I have a mug at work for coffee there. So the mugs are a great deal at the resort and something for home later.
If you are returning from the park with a dirty mug and head right into the foodcourt for something to drink they have a few sinks right there where they can be washed.

I can't use them when I get home! I have to leave them in the cupboard to look at. Wouldn't want to have the picture wear off!

Hi, we are new to the mugs. Can you fill them at any resort? We are staying at CB resort. We have dining plans for CMx2, O'Hana,Shutters and GF 1900 Park Fare. Just wondering! Thanks in advance!

Actually since the resort counter service locations sell the same mug design you can use the mug at other resorts. The only location that does not sell the generic mug is Coronado Springs, because their dining locations are not owned by WDW. So they still sell their resort logo mug, which means the generic mug can not be used there.

14 oz. They do have lids, which are color-coded with the handles on the mugs in one of three colors: yellow, red, and black. Makes determining "ownership" easier until you have 4 in your party.

WDW got rid of the resort logo mugs sometime in 2007 during the Year Of A Million Dreams celebration, because they had generic mugs sold for that event at the resorts.

The new mugs have a What Will You Celebrate motif. These are sold at every resort except for Coronado Springs.

This is a question on the purchase of the mugs. We have the Tables in Wonderland card and it is accepted at the CS in the resort hotels. Does anyone know if they will give the discount on the mug as well as food purchased there? Thanks!

I don't think the card is accepted at counter service locations in the parks or the resorts, because one time I was with one of my friends from Orlando at the Magic Kingdom at Pecos Bill and the Cast Member said they don't accept it.

It is accepted at the food court at the Value resorts, that's my question. I know the food is discounted, but are the refillable mugs? This was one of the reasons we purchased the card since the last 2 times we stayed at ASMu.

Tables in Wonderland is accepted for a 20% discount at only the following counter services: All Star Resorts and Pop Century food courts; the food court at Port Orleans French Quarter; Artists Palette at Saratoga Springs; Flame Tree Barbecue, Pizzafari and Restaurantosaurus at Animal Kingdom. It isn't accepted at any other CS anywhere.

And from what I've heard it's only good when you purchase actual food or beverage items. It isn't good for mugs.

We tried using our Tables in Wonderland card when we arrived at Port Orleans French Quarter - the food was discounted, but the mugs were not. Understandable, but I was disappointed.

Same thing when we've tried at Pop and AS Sports. They gave us the discount on the food, but we had to pay full price on the mugs.
