DH and I have always purchased the refillable mugs, but we have never purchased them for the kids. We are heading down again, and I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile to purchase the mugs for them as well.

DS is 9, DD is 6. They go through 2 gallons of skim milk a week, and rarely drink soda (they like it, but I limit it, but I'm likely to be a bit permissive on vacation). We are staying at POP, and knowing milk is not included, is it worth it if we are staying 6 nights and they may just get one frozen coke or juice/day? :confused3 (note: neither wdwinfo or all ears indicate how much a soda costs at POP)

I always figure it pays for itself after 3 drinks -- so it you expect to but 3 or more drinks, it's probably worthwhile.

I think it is worth it. My four kids all had them on our last trip. They averaged 2 or 3 fills a day, in the afternoon at the pool after the park. I DEFINATELY don't let my kids drink this much pop at home but......on vacation I let them drink more. To be honest, it helped with the tired and crabbiness of the evenings!!!!

You know, I was thinking the same thing about the soda! Usually at home I have them avoid soda and caffeine because I want them to go to bed at bed time. At WDW, they are going to want to stay up late, and to a certain extent, we want them to stay up later, too.:cool1:

Does any one know if the icees at POP are included in the free refills?

We bought a mug for our 5 year old earlier this month (first time we had purchased one for him). It didn't make sense from a financial point of view (he usually drinks milk), but we got it anyway. He wanted the mug, as we got them (he wants to be like us).

The POP has the frozen coke in the refill area. Last week the machines closed between 10 - 11 pm. The cost of a single soda at the POP is 2.19 (you receive a cup and fill it at the beverage station). Six sodas is just past the break even point. But you also need to consider that they are nice souvineer. I am drinking water from an old Wilderness Lodge cup right now. I do not know what they charge for an icee. The POP also has apple juice, coke zero (in some fountains), and sprite zero (in some fountains). The mug also includes hot chocolate.

Our family of 4 purchased 2 mugs. My husband and I would get coffee or tea early in the morning and the kids (ages 10 and 8)would use them later in the day for gatorade or something. We did just fine with the two of them.
