Refillable mugs, do you take them to the parks?

You get a refillable mug with the DXDDP, are you filling it up in the morning at your resort and take it with you for the day? I am aware that I cannot get a refill in the parks, but thought I can buy bottles and fill it in myself or just fill up my mug with just water (and can I ask for water everywhere?). Is it worth using snack credits for soft drinks?

We did not bring our refillable mugs to the parks. It was just something else to have to carry. We used them in the resort (AKL) and by the pool. We were on the quick service dining plan, so if we had dinner at our hotel, we would use the refillable mugs for our beverage. Since our meal came with a beverage, we would get a bottled beverage to take back to our room and put it in the fridge for later (such as a bottle of juice for the morning, etc).

Nope. For me, it's just one more thing to carry. I might carry a water bottle that I can clip to my belt, but there's no way I'd take something not sealed well that I couldn't clip to my belt to make my hands free.

No way, especially on a dining plan. You can buy a drink as a snack, it's included in meals and sometimes get a bottle of water substituted for something on the meal plan.

No we don't take the mugs to the parks. Don't wish to carry them.

After breakfast, DH runs them back to the room before we head to the park.

We brought them a couple of times. We drive to the parks and have a stroller with us, so we don't have to get on buses with them and when we are finished we just put them under the stroller.

We do, but we have a spot on the backpack DH always carries for them. Not sure if we will this time or not since we're on the dining plan. Maybe we'll take them the first day and then see.

The only benefit of having a mug in the parks is if you find it easier to decant leftover sodas and beverages into a non paper cup which is easier to carry while walking. A sports bottle or empty water bottle is a much more practical solution as you can seal it and put the rest of the beverage in your backpack.

You may see people around the parks with their mugs, but you will also notice folk standing waiting for the park bus with their coffee in the morning and I think a lot of the mugs you see are just ones that people didn't have time for/didn't feel like taking back to their room in case they missed the next bus.

We loved our refillable mugs! We always took them with us to the parks - we filled our mugs with coffee before heading out to whichever park we were going to in the morning. So we would be on the bus/boat/monorail, coffee in hand, ready to start the day! :thumbsup2

We took ours because our room at POR was so far from the food court that we weren't willing to hike all the way back there after breakfast just to drop them off. Also, when returning we would exit the bus by the main area, grab a soda or coffee and head back to our room. Of course by day 5 someone had taken mine right out of the stroller while we were on a ride.

Yep, we take ours, too, but it helps to have a stroller. It's a bit of a pain because I'm usually in charge of the mugs and kids while hubby folds up and holds the stroller. I've gotten good at holding 4 mugs in one hand! I'm thinking of NOT getting a mug for myself since I kicked my soda addiction a yr ago. I've heard Disney coffee isn't that great, but do like ice water better than bottled water. Hmmmm...decisions, decisions...

We did the dame thing at POR. No kids so we had room in out bag and they are light. Used them for water at the parks too.

I think we might bring ours since I will have a stroller. 

We always took ours with us into the park. We would stop on our way out to grab a soda and then again on our way back. We also had a stroller so it was easy just to put the empty cups in one place.

No, never. But then we drive our rental car to the parks and leave them in the car. Then they are handy to have ready to stop off at the food court when we get back to get refills. I am surpised when I see parents with 3,4, or 5 of them attached to their backpacks in the parks. They always seem to be hitting them on the legs.:rotfl2:

Anyway, if you have a stroller and have room, go ahead and bring them. I will carry bottled beverages (water or Diet Coke) into the parks and then get a cup with ice (for the soda) to drink it. Or many times I will just get a cup of ice water from one of the QS locations. I hate to use a SC on a beverage! ;)

One thing I have done, especially when it's hot, and especially at AK (for some reason their parking lot seems really hot at the end of the day) I will put an ice chest with plenty of ice and bottled drinks in the car so that at the end of the day after hiking across the hot pavement and getting an an even hotter car I will have something nice and cold to drink.:cloud9: Of course, this only works if you have your own car. If you don't, carry a small ice chest in your stroller. This works well too!

My friend had said they were able to grab a cold bottle of water if they had their mugs in the morning and then they would take the water to the park...anyone heard of this being done? I think they stayed at POR and it was a year and a half ago. That would be great for us...

Never. And I couldn't even imagine a CM telling them they could do this. Disney makes a fortune from selling those bottles.

I do. But, I usually fill mine with coffee just before we head to the bus stop. I have a AK crossbody bag that has a clip on it. When I finish my coffee, I just clip it on there.

I carried mine with me. I filled it up on the way to the bus stop. I carry a small backpack with me and when I was finished drinking the drink I put it in a freezer bag and put it in the backpack. When I got back to the hotel I filled it back up on the way to the room.
