Refillable Mugs at the Fort

Thanks Goofyseven, I really was trying to be helpful with my post (here). I think some of the flack I caught was due to a somewhat more testy version of this same post in another thread, directed at a veteran DISer, and Deni called me on it. I appreciate both your support and Deni's rebuke... both serve to make me want to do better.

I have to say that it does make the newbies feel unwelcome. There are lots of Disney sites with information only. However, the uniqueness of this "forum" is that it's a community.
By making people feel like they should have just searched, they do feel unwelcome.
And, they also might not get the most up-to-date information.
Just my two cents as a newbie.

For the record Charissemp, I would not have even posted the 'search suggestion' if it were a newbie asking the question. And I still assert that the best way to get ALL the info is a search, especially if you have a question with a definite answer. What times the trading posts close, how far is the pool from 100, when can I check in, how much are bike rentals: these are all ideal questions for the search. Chances are you can find your answer in less time than it takes to type a new thread, not to mention the time it takes the next person to answer you. This is not quashing community, it is endorsing self-sufficiency (which used to be a hallmark quality of Americans). If you want an opinion or an idea, well, this is the community for you -- we are overflowing with opinions, ideas, speculation, thoughts, judgments, theories, et al! Again, no offense intended, sorry if you took it.

PS - JustBeachy, thanks for the help! (he says dripping sarcasm) :lmao:

Ideal questions for the search???!!!! If we wanted to know about ideal questions for the search, don't you think we could use the search for that information???!!!!! As for me I am a model of self-deficiency. Thank you very much. This is a poor attempt at sarcastic humor. Next time I will search 'sarcastic humor' before I get started. So never mind.:3dglasses

I started a "refillable mug" thread once......

about 2 posts down it was all amok with otters and peacocks and kungaloosh! It was my first thread over here and it hooked me. I guess you could say I felt "welcome."

BTW Jim, I only call my favorite guys Buckaroo ;)

Rules??? Rules????

There are no rules!

These threads always head south fast.

You got it, dude! (she replies to his drippy sarcasm) :lmao:

Shanny, what's up? Nobody likes a grumpy Santa!!! Please, snap out of it!!! :flower3:

Personally I think the search is all well in good, if you want an answer and not a conversation. Maybe someone just wants to get a different opinion than what was found in search. Of course where the mugs are is pretty cut and dry, but maybe someone may have posted, "if you go at such a time you may get Kungaloosh instead of coke", who knows....:woohoo: My point is, people ask the same questions all the time, when I was new, or not so new, I did(do). It is because I want to hear the LATEST info, or nonsense there is to be offered, not what was happening 3 mos ago. Personally I HATE using the search, half the time I get more info I'm not looking for then what I am. It doesn't lessen our board any to have multiple questions. It just sparks new conversations and friendships. You can tell what someone is asking usually by the thread title. If it is a repeat and some people have an issue with answering repeat questions, then ignore the thread. Simple. We have Scott to watch over us, we don't need to be self appointing ourselves as DisPolice.(said with dripping sarcasm);) Seriously though, I left another board just for this very reason. Some responses were snippy, and a bit self righteous, which causes people to be gaurded when starting a post, so as not to feel stupid, etc. That certainly isn't what we go for here, which is why I love this place. Lets stay the welcoming camping board we have been, and just help people, search or no search. If someone stopped at your site to ask directions to the pool would you tell them, or instruct them to check the map? Hmmmm...c'mon.

I don't, but I'll take a Kungaloosh by Jimbo! Whatyasay Buckaroo? C'mon Sonny boy. Be a good little Whippersnapper and mix me up a drink.;)

I like kungaloosh, beer and really not a fan of the search function (when it works)

does that count?;)
