Refillable mugs at DVC resorts?

Yes, the policy is the same throughout the World and yes, you read the sign correctly (amazingly most don't see the sign or are selectively "blind" to it).
Gail,

I don't want to get into a debate, but I specifically asked not one, but two different CM's at WL's Roaring Forks last week and they both said that I didn't need to buy a new mug and that my old one was good.

I was fully prepared to pay for another one. But both gave me the same "naw, just use the one you have" response.

I agree that the sign says length of stay...that's why I asked. Maybe they figure the DVC "length of stay" is until 2042? :p

Granny,
Hey, no problem, I was just repeating what I read in all the resorts I have visited. Also, I believe the little sign at OKW states the same thing.
It was nice that two CMs let you reuse your mug, but, I do think it is against policy. They probably let you cause you are so nice. :)

This site backs up my statements. And, please, there is no offense intended.

I don't personally drink soda, and I would much rather buy a pound of organic breakfast blend coffee to brew in my DVC room and drink on my DVC balconey! With half & half from my DVC frig!

Besides, walking (staggering) to the refill station in the morning with bedhair and my refillable mug is anti-magic to myself and others! ;)

Now, if they'd come up with a refillable mug program for the Sam Adams on tap, I'd bite for sure. That's why we're bringing back our Yakoose mug this year!
Darn! I guess I should have actually read the thread before I posted!

Mrs. Snowgod, you are a-okay in my book! :teeth:

Ijust saw a post (on another thread I think?) and someone had brought their mugs back (again, I think it was WL) and asked if they could refill one they bought on another trip and were told yes, they are forever.

So, just like calling MS, some things depend on who you ask.

Kathleena,
When you see a sign posted regarding the usage of the mugs and you hear and read the policy, it is hard to dispute the fact that they are a one time only thing. However, it is apparent that the CMs look the other way. It is definitely another one of those rules that are not enforced.

I agree this rule is not enforced we bought refill mugs in 96 from All Stars and have used them every time we have been back there. We also bring our Coronado mugs and use those when we go to the peppermarket for dinner on each visit to WDW. We have a mug from Dixie that has been used numerous times even now since it is POR so I guess they are not overly strict on this rule it seems more of a guideline than anything

So it appears. It makes it a much better deal!:)

I would have to agree Gail it is a great deal and one we will continue to use.

Ok, in my opinion, they need to be clear about what the rule is, and back it up with the cast members telling us the same thing. Either keep the signs up and start being strict about not letting current guests use old mugs, with a "mug policeman" or bar codes or something, or just take the signs down and tell everyone they can re-use them forever. The way it is now, when I see the signs, I feel guilty for using an old mug, even if a cast member said to go ahead. But on the other hand, if I do buy a new mug, I see all the people using the old mugs and feel like "hey, I'm getting ripped off here buying a new mug every time!". So it's not fair either way. (Not that I remember to pack the old mugs, so I have to buy new ones anyway, but that's beside the point.)

I agree with what you are saying, but, in the wide scheme of things, this is not something to get worried over.

Last fall when we eating at the food court (cotton mill) in Port Orleans Riverside, it seemed like about half the people had refillable mugs that said Dixie Landings. I figure it is a cheap way to get us to come back to WDW.
