Refillable mugs-a real question

I just read on a thread about WL that when they bought their mugs they CM said they are now good at any resort but not parks.
Anyone else get this information or is the thread poster mistaken?

I believe the poster was incorrect. Each resort has their own mugs and they are good for only that resort. However, the poster was correct in saying the mugs are also not good at the parks.

I disagree with CM. We were there last month and nothing. Also, can you see all those lost mugs at the lost and found for each resort? Restaurant hopping with your mug! :crazy2:

Didn't someone post recently that they either did or were told they could buy their mugs at their first resort of their stay, keep the receipt, and then present the receipt to their second resort in a split-stay and be able to use them there as well? I have no idea how Disney could ever make this work, without embarrassing the person by asking them for the receipt every time they refill their mug :confused3

I'm just wondering if that was the scenario that the original thread was referring to.

Is this true ?? Can you, perhaps, take your receipt from resort #1 and the mug from #1 and trade it in for a mug from resort #2 ???? Has anyone ever done that ?? :confused3

I would like to know why is it that those mugs are so interesting ?. I mean, most of you guys spends thousands of dollars on a single trip to WDW, so why is those mugs so important to you ?. I know everyting ads up in the end, and makes the total cost of the trip a bit higher, but sodas/milk is not that expensive, think about what you pay for a resort per night!.

I beg to differ.....last year I figured out that we average AT LEAST 6 drinks a day, for each of us, over our 15 day visit (just at the resort/pool). If you under estimate a drink at $2 per drink that would equal $720 over the duration of our trip. That is not inexpensive to me. :rolleyes1

I agree. Nothing wrong with saving where you can.

I called last week to find out for sure. I was told that no, they do not like you to use the same mug at two different resorts but since we are staying at 2 only because they do not have the full time open at any, that they will allow me to use the same mug at the second resort.

Guess your right in your case, you must be a family of 4. And since you stay 15 days at a resort, it ads up. Most people dont stay at a resort for that long, or they spilt their stays between 2 or more resorts.

Well even with a shorter period of time, the mug thing is cheaper for a family.

I have read about the price and where you can refill your mug, depending on which resort you stay at, and thougt about maybe I should buy a mug too, but im not sure i will. I mean, say im staying at BC and im sitting on my balcony and my mug is empty, then ill have to walk all the way from my room, down the halls to the refill station, just to get something to drink. Call me lazy, but my room in BC has a fridge (sp?) where i can put serveral drinks in, and when i need something to drink, i just take one from there.

Ofcause there is nothing wrong about saving money, i didnt mean to be rude or anything like that regarding my previous post in this thread!. :goodvibes

hey denmark: i tend to agree with you. just buy the mug at the next resort and pay the 12 bucks or whatever. we spend thousands and thousands to go to wdw, and we are trying to save 12 bucks by reusing our mugs or spending hours of energy looking up details to see if we can save twelve bucks. i am not rich by any means, but for a split stay if i have to buy an extra mug, it is not worth even thinking about.

ITA as well. Imagine if you could calculate all the time spent reading and arguing about mug. Take all the time CM's have spent answering questions about mugs, multiply that by the average wage. The dollar value would likely be enough to have free coke piped through the water fountains.

I love mug threads

I am sure if you are big Soda drinkers then the mugs do probably save you money. However we are not. Since they don't offer unlimited refills of Dasani, then it does us no value to buy one.

Plus I agree with Denmark, unless you stay at a moderate or value resort with a food court and access to the soda fountains, it is a major pain to go get them filled.

Plus we find we eat very few meals in the areas where you can use your mug and I am sorry there is no way I am going to take my mug into a full service restaurant. I draw the line on that.

Hi. I just read on one of these other threads that at teh ASMo resort you could use your refillable mugs for milk aas well as apple juice. they said that if the drink comes out of a spigot then you could fill up your mug. Is this correct?? I had only heard that water adn soda where the only beverages that you could refill?

I buy a refillable mug at each new resort we go to for the sheer collectible value of it, plus DH is a big soda drinker so we definitely get our money's worth out of those suckers.

I personally like the design of POP's mug. WL is also a favorite of mine, although they don't have the big bottom ones anymore which kinda ruins the look of my collection! :rotfl:
