We are spending 2 nights at CSR and then 5 nights at VWL. My question is do we have to purchase refillable mugs at both resorts. I hate to have to purchase 6 mugs for this trip. Can someone answer this question for me or give me your suggestions??? What have you done in the past?

Hi.

You may cause a stir with your question - just giving you a heads up. Refillable mug debates are a hot topic!

Here's the simple answer to your question: If you want to be able to get free refills on drinks from BOTH resorts, then yes, you will have to purchase a mug from each resort respectively.

IMO, if you're only going to be at CSR for a couple of days, save your $$$ and buy your mugs at WL where you will be for a longer period of time. If you're counting on those free refills, buy mugs from both resorts. Then you have souvenirs. But I think if you take a CSR mug to the WL and fill it up that you're "not doing the right thing." Of course I have seen people filling up all sorts of mugs, cups, containers, etc. at various resorts, but it doesn't make it right. And that is against Disney policy anyway.

Hope this helps!!!

::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo You have to purchase one for each resort. Whether you buy one for each person is up to you. We share, I bring plastic cups and pour from the larger cup or I bring hot cups for coffee. Usually the ones from our room. At CSR they even have a family size mug meant for sharing. You might only want one mug from CSR since your stay will be short. You can share the drinks without sharing the germs. LOL BTW I also do this at parks as many families do. I bring plastic cups and we buy one or two large drinks and share. I just stick them in my purse or diaper bag( if I have one in diapers) easy to do.
Just a warning to you all, this past August I had a mug stolen from underneath my sons stroller while we were swimming. I am still upset. We always write our family name in sharpie as soon as we buy them. I spent the trip looking at other peoples mugs. Never found ours and noone turned it in. Even if another child went under the stroller it was marked and parents had to know it wasn't theirs. We were at CBR which we love. ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

:earboy2: :earboy2: I saw this at CBR this past August. There was also a CM clipping the illeagal mugs. Saw some very embarassed guests. But again they knew they were doing something wrong. :earboy2: :earboy2:

Huh - family sized mugs at CSR, anyone got a picture?

What does clipping the mugs entail? I have this image of a CM going around and snipping the bottoms of mugs out with a Roger Rabbit sized pair of scissors :teeth: !

But I'm all for enforcing a clearly stated, written and posted policy.

The policy is that you need to buy a new mug at the second resort. It isn't WDW's problem because you decided to switch resorts.

LOL it looked more like a giant hole punch to me. I'm all for enforcing the rules too. :cool1: :cool1:

I wish I did. I think we will buy one if we stay there next trip. It was a giant size of the regular one. I think it was $19.99. ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Thanks for your opinions. I think we will buy 1 at CSR and then buy all 3 at VWL.

But I did not have any intention of buying at CSR and using at VWL. I agree that is not the right thing to do. Would not be a good example for my son. I guess I didn't word my questions correctly and was just asking what others have done.

I thank you for the suggestion of buying 1 at CSR and then buy all 3 at VWL.

i did not see any giant mugs at Vero or Boardwalk in July. I would have gotten one. The regular sized ones are so small that you have to fill them too often for me.

:flower: I have not seen them any where but CSR. But I agree I would like to see them at other resorts as well. ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

For me, I don't buy the refillable mug unless I'm staying at least 4 nights.
I don't feel it's worth the value of getting unless I just wanted it as a resort
souvenir.

If you want mugs, buy them at your first resort. When you check into your DVC resort, fill your refrigerator with the beverages of your choice and refill your own mug with those beverages.

When we were there in June staying at the WL we were told that you can now use any resort mug at any resort. I haven't tried it since we only stayed at WL but I am thinking of bringing mine in January to the POP and see what happens. Hope it works.

I think the CM was misinformed. Many of the resort mugs have printed right on them that they are good only for the length of stay at the resort the mug was purchased.

If they had changed that policy I can guarantee you that it would have been discussed and debated here on the DIS.
