Please no debates or flames! I'll be spending 5 nights (Sun-Thurs) at Boardwalk (renting points), but to save those expensive weekend points will be starting my vacation with two nights at Pop Century, then BWV for five nights, then back to POP for the last two nights. I'm not a big soda drinker and don't drink coffee at all, but am thinking about buying a POP mug as soon as I get there (for the frozen coke). Since it is all one trip would I be allowed (let me rephrase that 'would it be correct') to ask to use my POP mug at BW since otherwise I'll only be getting 1 1/2 days use out of it? If I have to buy another mug at BWV that's fine, but then what about when I go back to POP five days later for the last two days of my trip. Would it be all right to use the POP mug or would it be necessary to buy a third mug? This seems a little wasteful as I would only be getting to use the POP mugs for 1 1/2 days each time, but I'll be down there for ten days total. It's all one stay. Does that make sense and what would you do? Would it make a difference if I spoke with a manager and showed him the receipt for the mug showing that it was from this same trip?

i see no problem using the "pop" for both stays-technicaly it's good for the duration of you state in the park, and if the truth be known the mugs are only redisgned on a very seldom basis (like once per season) so some enterprising travelers check the boards to see if thier mug is still usable and if so they pack it to take it along. my suggestion would be to call member services at boardwalk (since you're using points i'm assuming your a dvc member so ask for dvc member services) and explain the situation-they may very well be willing to put some type of sticker on you pop mug that allows you to use it there, or they may be willing to have you surrender your pop to trade in for a boardwalk, and then trade your pop back to you.

if member services is of no assisstance call the resort manager and explain-they tend to be very accommodating if it is something within their power.

We ate dinner last Friday at POR. I noticed an advertisement on the soda dispenser for the refillable mugs. "It said good for your stay at this resort." However, here is what I noticed as I looked around the food court. I saw 2 people using All star mugs, I saw 2 people with the old Dixie Landings mugs, and the rest with the current mugs. No CM's stopped the old mug users or the All star mug users.

I tend to buy one from each resort and that is my souvenier. So, if it were me, I would buy one from Pop and one from BWV. But, keep in mind that refilling at BWV isn't an easy thing. There are only a few places to refill there and none of them are particularly convenient. We bought one and only used in twice...when we bought it and once at the pool.
Since BWV have those inroom coffee makers, it seems to take away from the need for refill. mugs.

However, will you get 'called' on the use of a POP mug at BWV? Don't know...they don't have those refill stations. You have to actually show them to someone and they then give you a paper cup that you pour into your refill. mug. Up to you what you want to do. The situation is a little different there. Definately use the same mug at POP that you bought the first time around. That shouldn't cause anyone any angst.

One thing about refilling the mugs at the BW. They are not self service. You have to show your mug to a CM at a restaurant, and they will refill it (often by giving you a soda in a cup). So, my guess is that they would probably shoot down refilling a mug from Pop.

I would say you should be fine using your Pop mug for both portions of your stay there.

You can refill mugs at the Boardwalk Bakery. Boardwalk mugs refills are free, all other mugs are 89 cents per refill.

Aubriee said she is renting points, so I doubt she is a DVC member.

I will not get into what you can try and get away with but I will let you know that the official Disney policy is that you can not use the mugs at two different resorts even if it is on the same trip. I sent Disney an e-mail recently asking a similar question because we are staying two days at AKL and the balance of our trip at CSR. Their official response was that I would have to buy two mugs.

Buy a case of your favorite soda. You'll have a refrigerator in BWV. Forget the rules, forget the flames...How do you plan on getting your POP refilled for free when BWV doesn't have self-service refills? The sign at the bakery says something like current boardwalk mugs (they have the year on them) are refilled free all other mugs are .89 (not sure of the price but it's about a dollar).

I don't know about you but I'd have a tought time asking for something for free when there is a price posted.

You're right. I wasn't aware what the rules were since the different resort stays would be for the same trip. I had no intention of trying to do something I shouldn't. For goodness sakes if that was my intention I would carry my WL mug back from my trip this past January. As I stated in my original post if I needed to buy another mug at BWV that wouldn't be a problem and I was mainly curious as to if it would be all right to use the POP mug the last two days of the trip since I would be staying at POP both the first two days and the last two days of my trip. Thanks for the response.

What I would do...

I would use the Pop mug for both portions of your trip when you are staying at Pop - obviously it's the same trip and falls well within Disney rules. No need to feel any qualms about that, IMO.

I don't think I would buy a Boardwalk mug though, unless you just want one for a souvenir. You've said that you're not a big soda drinker and don't drink coffee at all, and that you're mostly getting the Pop mug for the frozen Coke (yum!). And since you'll be at BWV, you'll have a fridge. So if it were me, I'd just buy what I wanted to drink and keep it in the fridge for the BWV portion of my stay.

Happy planning!

From what I hear getting refills is more of a pain at BWV. I would buy soda instead.

refillable
You can refill other mugs for .89 at Boardwalk Bakery? Any where else? ::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Since you said you don't drink much soda and no coffee, unless you want the mug as a souvenier I would skip it all together. Do you plan to fill up more then 4 times at each resort? If so then buy the mug. If not then don't.

Thank you for inquiring about the refillable mugs. I hope that your questions have been answered. Just throwing my .02 cents. No flames here!

My thoughts exactly. Believe me, it can be a pain to lug those mugs around just to get soda pop. especially if your bldg is not an easy walk (close walk)to the food court. If you're not much into soda or coffee and mostly interested in the slush, then I would probably suggest to just buy them and not buy the refill mugs.

We buy refillable mugs. We leave our mugs behind on purpose cause after our meal, we sometimes go straight to the parks. And lugging those bulky mugs in the back pack, is no fun. So sometimes we end up buying one time use cups even when we know we own a refill mugs.

you know how we have the threads just about the resorts with all info i think we should have one for refillable mugs with ALL the info then it is locked and thats it

Believe me... I have worked on this one... And "no can do." They just won't allow the refillable mug thread up on the top and get "sticky".

Well, this one was actually resurrected from almost a month ago. :rotfl: Not quite sure how that happened. I think the answers were received several weeks ago on this one. :goodvibes
