Refillable mug...pushing the rules

I always assume there is no harm in asking and on occasion I have pushed the rules a little bit....but I see that refillable mugs are good for the length of stay at Disney and I am also aware that those people who stay at WDW then stay at Disney's Vero Beach Resort can use the same refillable mug there without any additional fee.

We are going to Vero Beach for 4 days followed by WDW for 6 days and are on the Disney Dining Plan....where I will get my refillable mug included.

Has anyone ever pushed to get their refillable mug at the "start" of their Disney vacation even though it is attached to their second reservation? There is no dining plan option for Vero Beach so I cannot be told to extend my dining plan to cover these days then I will get my mug.

I have a habit of pushing it...for free stuff.

Any advice? Or will Mickey escort me off the premises?

If you are asking the question then you probably know its wrong. In the grand scheme of things, it won't matter to Disney but I think it's probably best to use things as you paid for them (refillable mug for your reservation).

The refillable mug is just another credit on the dining plan. You buy the mug and "pay" with your plan. Your dining plan isn't active until you check in. So, there's no way you're getting it 4 days early, no matter where you're staying.

Mickey won't escort you off the premises, but as you already know it is pushing it in a rude way. As others have said, the folks at Vero have no way of accessing your refillable mug credit at there at Vero.

You can't get your mug until you check in for your dining plan stay, which can be around 6am on check in day.

Okay, we are doing split stay. 4 nights POR QS and 6 nights WL TB service. I know the mugs are active days after my checkout at POR. I hate making multiple trips for soda so will I be able to fill mugs from both dining plans at the same time?

Yes, once you check in and get your second mug, both will be active. All mugs are coded for 14 days.

THIS is why my trip was thousands of dollars??? Yea I don't think so.

I don't understand the overwhelming mightier than thou attitude that surfaces on these boards. Do people just want to look good in public? I don't think her asking this type of question is any real moral dilemma.

So much is in the wording and tone (as someone (moi) who gets the tone wrong so often knows LOL). She says clearly that she has pushed the limits before. WHY say this at all?

If the post had been "I know we can do it *this* way, but can we do it *that* way instead" there would likely have been a different sort of tone in the responses.

Maybe you are right. The tone of her post/question came off to me a little tongue in cheek, trying to make light of the question. Certainly not deserving of such comments as:
"you probably know it's wrong"
"pushing it in a rude way"
"And people have to ask why prices are so high"

I mean really? People need to not take the world so seriously.

It isn't why your trip is thousands of dollars, however the abuse of the old mug system IS responsible for the implementation of the new mug system.

VBR is part of the mug program so you can buy one there or use one there as long as it is still within the date. I doubt they would be able to let you pick up a ddp mug early their however.

I did not "hear" it as tongue in cheek, but rather another example of someone aggressively "working the system" in a negative way. And when that happens enough, Disney implements changes that do negatively impact my vacation. When you have been around for awhile, I think you will see that here.

They won't.

With packages, the only thing you are allowed access to early is your tickets. You are not eligible for any use of your dining plan until you physically check in for the package stay.

I understand the rules. VBR is a little different in that they don't sell a dining plan so they can't tell you to buy the plan if you want to use your included mug early. If the split stay is reversed you can use the mug there so the question wasn't out of line at all.
