refillable mug and dining plan, when does the clock start when.... and end....see post #37.

I got a wait list filled, so after setting up new ones, I asked about the mugs. I said we were thinking of getting dining plan for part of the trip. If we only got it for the BLT part, would it work for the whole trip.

I was told no, only would work for that part.

edit to add, I went back to chat, happen to get the same CM. Said we are coming for two weeks, if we buy a mug the first day, how long will it last? We are staying at several resorts.

Her answer was to my knowledge, it only last the length of that resort stay.

second edit.....did chat with CM on disney main site. She said yes mug will work with both just buying a mug or the part time dining plan.
I did a split stay in April and stayed at All Star Sports the first night and added the dining plan to that 1 night stay. The mug I got was good for 14 days, even though the rest of my stay was at a different resort and I did not have the dining plan for the second part of my split stay. Disney phone CM's are notorious for giving incorrect information, so I generally come here to ask my questions and I have always gotten good advice.

Just curious how much use people actually get out of the mug. The soda machines to fill up at seem inconvenient and/or out of the way if heading to the parks for the day or even if you are enjoying the resort, I’d be annoyed if I had to walk over to the qs location to get a drink. We don’t drink soda either (but do drink coffee) so I never understood what the big deal with the mugs are. If you could fill them up in the park that’d be a different story.

We are a family of four who often stays for 2+ weeks. When we’re on the dining plan 2 of the 4 mugs never get used. When we’re not on the dining plan, we buy one mug for sure and sometimes a second mug. Usually one mug becomes the coffee/hot chocolate/tea mug and the other mug becomes the soda mug.

I’m the biggest mug user in the family. I’m constantly filling up at the resort. But we also spend big chunks of time at our resort and we find it’s nice to have a mug with you when you resort hop a lot like we do.

About half our trips we bought one mug, rest no mugs. With DVC, we have coffee, soda, whatever in room and like you said, it's always seemed like a mile away from our room. But that was then we walked from BLT to MK, we now take the monorail, so go right by QS. And every day coming back from park , we'd fill up the mug. Part of our trip, we are staying at BCV, same thing, coming back from park, we go by QS and fill up.

But if we weren't planning on doing dining plan for a single day, we wouldn't buy two mugs, maybe one and that's iffy. $45 can buy a lot of soda/coffee/ hot chocolate.

Just to add, we also use a scooter now, so have a place to store it during the day.

I don't actually use mine a lot, but it comes with the dining plan and I do get that occasionally. I rarely drink soda, unless I need the caffeine, but I do like to do half lemonade and half tea.
