refillable mug and dining plan, when does the clock start when.... and end....see post #37.

What if you do split stays over a 10 day stay (5+5)? If you get a resort mug on day 1 at AKV, spend 5 days, then move to SSR for 5 days, do you need to buy a new mug on day 6, or is the same mug okay for all 10 days?

DDP credits are showing up as active and ready to use this morning before being on Disney property and physically checking in.

You mean you aren't ON property yet and credits are showing?

Well so then my hope of mugs being active at 8 am (while not quite checked out of value) would work? We were planning on using a credit for lunch at park before we even get to the resort we have the dining plan with.

A few people have stated it starts at time like 7 am, others say you have to get to resort before it would work.

Yes, currently in Jacksonville right now. I checked early like before 6am and the credits were not active yet. Then I checked again like 7:15 and the credits were there!

I did a practice mobile order also and the system was allowing me to pay using the credits too.

We’ve done several split stays while using the dining plan for the second resort only. We’ve always been told we have to go to the front desk to make sure we’re checked out first before the dining plan will activate for the second resort.

However, there have been times when our dining plan credits are just automatically available to use without checking out first, and there have been times where our dining plan credits were not available to use until later in the morning, even after we had checked out of the first resort.

When that happened, we were told to pay out of pocket, keep the receipts, and the second resort would reimburse us and convert those purchases into dining plan entitlements. Kind of a pain, but we never had to check into our second resort for the credits to work. It was more about checking out of the first resort.

Hope that makes sense.

I thought mug use might be iffy in the morning, but thought no issue with using credit for lunch. What time is check out in non dvc resorts? I thought it would be 11 am, so after that, credits would be live.

You should be able to pick up and start using your mug as soon as you check into the DVC resort, even if you’re staying at a value resort the night before. So you’ll need to be checked into the DVC resort to get your mug.
Understood, but we won’t get there until 4 pm. Was hoping to get it at prior resort.

Only way to do that is to buy one, which would defeat the purpose. Maybe if you check out of the value, but while still there (but checked out), you may be able to try getting the mug there at that point, especially if you have automatic check in set up at the second resort.

Yes, we do have online checkin. But some have mentioned dining goes live early morning, so I was hoping. Only 4 months to find out.

Checkout is 11am. Hopefully (and most likely) it will be fine for you and you’ll have no issues. So try not to worry. :goodvibes

We’ve had a few occasions where our dining credits did not go live at all because we were told the first resort didn’t check us out properly, which doesn’t make sense to me, because other times we’ve used our dining credits attached to our second resort first thing in the morning before we checked out of our first resort, so who knows.

Just to add this tidbit.....and even though I've heard a dozen stories about this not happening, I just did chat with MS. This was the response.....

"So if we stayed at BLT for few days with dining, and then switch to Kidani without dining, the mug will still work?
Donna:
It would not, because it is length of stay for that first reservation, but it would work through the day of your check out from Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort. You can, also, purchase refills and have them added at the point of purchase locations

You: ok, thank you. thanks for the help."

I wonder if the rules are changing.

Another example of wrong information being given out, not unusual. You can see when your mug expires on some (if not all) of the drink machines. The expiration date will be displayed when you fill up your cup. It defaults to 14 days and the cashiers don't change it. If you are staying longer than 14 days they will extend it, you may need to ask in that case.

Don’t know if it happens every time, but after one of these chats, I got a list of questions. One was how knowledgeable was the CM? I wrote if I’m seeking answers, how would I know if the CM has the correct knowledge?

Great point! Most of us learn by experience (and finding out what we were told is in fact, not accurate) or by asking here! So many knowledgeable people on the DISboards.

I got a wait list filled, so after setting up new ones, I asked about the mugs. I said we were thinking of getting dining plan for part of the trip. If we only got it for the BLT part, would it work for the whole trip.

I was told no, only would work for that part.

edit to add, I went back to chat, happen to get the same CM. Said we are coming for two weeks, if we buy a mug the first day, how long will it last? We are staying at several resorts.

Her answer was to my knowledge, it only last the length of that resort stay.

second edit.....did chat with CM on disney main site. She said yes mug will work with both just buying a mug or the part time dining plan.
