Would like to get opinions on whether or not this is a good value. Some of my questions would be:

1. Is this really unlimited refills?
2. Can it be used at the parks or any of the Disney resorts?
3. What about in Downtown Disney?

Thanks so much

Are you speaking about the mugs sold at the resorts? They aren't good at the parks or Downtown Disney, and are only supposed to be bought and used at the resort where you are staying.

This is a good value if you like soda/coffee/teas...does not include fruit juice other than apple juice at some resorts. Cost I belive is 11.99 and if you are there for say 7 days you would well get your moneys worth out of it. It is free refills for the length of your stay at the hotel you are staying at. The mug is only refillable at the hotel you are staying at. It is not refillable at the parks or dtd or other resorts and is not refillable on subsequent stays. Plus it makes a great souvenier too!

You purchase a mug at your resort and it is good at only that resort for the length of your stay. You can refill it as much as you want. You cannot use it at the parks or at DTD. To us it is a good value since we enjoy eating at the food courts and then can also enjoy a drink at the pool. They are currently around 11.99 so at $2.50 a drink you would only need to refill 5 times to make your money. You also have a nice souveneir to take home. On the flip side, if you don't intend to to spend much time at your resort then it probably isn't such a great thing. It can be inconvenient if you are in a room far from the food court, it can be a long walk to get soda refill!

If you DON'T purchase the refillable mug, but eat at the hotel, (let's say, the food court), are drinks refillable?

Gosh, I hope so!! Last Fall, I ate at POFQ, and refilled my drink during dinner. Nobody said anything, so I assume it is okay. If not, I owe Disney $2.00 for a Dr. Pepper!!
***Editing to add: I wouldn't ever refill after the meal, i.e., take the cup back to the room and refill it the next day, or anything like that!!***

It is unlimited refills, but only at the resort where you bought it.

Consider this though:
For the price of 1 mug ( 12.00 + tax ), you can go to the grocery store and buy a 12 pack of soda, a couple gallons of water and a couple half gallons of juice. And you don't have to carry mugs on that long trek to the refill station whenever you get thirsty. We also bring our own coffee since we don't like WDW coffee and it's easy to brew up a few cups in the morning rather than "mugging" it down to the refill station for bad coffee. This is just for the price of one mug. Imagine how much you could buy if you were buying 2 or more.

Something to consider if you have a rental car or can stop at the grocery store on your way from the airport.

If you don't purchase a refillable mug, refills generally aren't free at food courts.

Oy, now I feel bad. :guilty: I suppose I'll have to get a refillable mug at Pop this fall and symbolically NOT refill it one morning to make up for my bad behavior last year.

Jen, I wouldn't feel too bad- I think Disney's gotten enough money off you to make up for it! :flower:

They are a great value for me and my husband. As much coffee and diet drinks spread out between my husband and I during our trips it make more sense to get the mugs. Not to mention I use them all the time when I come home. :)

That plus "forty lashes" should do it! :rotfl:

I would like to add:

Some resorts are easier to get refills at than others so sometimes I buy the mug and sometimes I do not. I have found that if they have a food court it is very accessible for refills. If you have to fill someplace where someone else does it for you it is harder and their hours can sometimes be shorter. I have enjoyed the refills at WL and POLY. Did not try it at YC and FW.

Good luck...............

I have NEVER heard of this.

It's a self serve drink station...and you don't refill through your meal? You go and buy a whole new cup?

Same thing at a fast food place - like McD's that has self-serve drink stations. I've NEVER seen ANYONE be reprimanded for filling up thier cup on the way out.

DH and I do this all the time...have a drink with dinner...and fill up again as we leave. I personally see NOTHING wrong with that. Flame away if you must.

I've never eaten at a WDW food court, but I'm with you on the fast food restaurants. I assume the extra soda they provide is more than offset by the wages they save by making you pour your own drinks. Most advertise free refills. It never occured to me that they wouldn't be unlimited if I'm pouring my own.

There are no signs or anything else that state the above comment. Out of curiousity, I asked cast members at various resorts on different trips whether the refills were only for the mugs themselves or if guests were allowed to refill their cup during the course of the meal in which said cup was purchased. Each and every time, I was told of course.

So tallbkp, feel free to refill that disposable cup you just purchased for that meal. Others are going to swoop down on me for encouraging you to do so but they are in the very small but very vocal minority. Don't sweat the small stuff.

They are definitely free refills for any cup at a self service refillable station.
