we listed a friend from DVC as the person who referred us to DVC, we joined and then were told our friends would recieve a thank you gift for the referral. Does anyone know how long that gift takes to arrive? or what the gift is?
TIA
Lori

Depending on what state they live in and how many referrals they have, it should be the equivelent of $200 for the first referral and can usually be taken in the form of dues off, Disney dollars, or other credits. The catch is that some state laws do not allow "perks" like these, and in that case, we just get a nice letter saying thanks, but we can't give you the bonus. I'm going to guess it could take a couple of months for this to happen. I know you get the first letter saying someone has used you as a referral very fast, but the rewards will be slower because of bookkeeping issues/

Do you know if Canadians will recieve the "gift"? I have already recieved the thank you note with no mention of anything else forthcoming.

I referred a friend who bought a few months ago...I got a $200 "gift"...my choice of taking it in the form of a dues payment, disney dollars or a gift certificate (on a Chase Bank card)...I got the $200 gift certificate (my choice) shortly after the friend's purchase closed...so it was months (don't remember exactly how many...2 or 3 at least) before I got the card.

Then, when I tried to use the card (to pay for Disney Dining my next trip to WDW), the card didn't work! The DVC CM (NOT the check-in CM) helped me out; he called Chase and did some sort of "magic" and the card did work to pay for my DDP...there was about $11 left on the card after paying for DDP...and when I tried to use the card for a $10 purchase, it once again did not work...

So, I figured I really got a $189 gift...still better than a kick in the pants, but it was pretty frustrating trying to use that card...

No idea which states/countries allow DVC to give a gift to referrers...but I live in VA and I got it, so I know VA allows it...

Do you get a gift if you referr and you live in The United Kingdom?

I'm from Canada and I took my family to Boardwalk in 2005. My Parents loved it so much they bought into SSR and they used me as a referral. I never received a gift or even a thank you letter. I just figured they don't send those to Canadians.

Having said that I had a co-worker go on the tour when they were there, they didn't purchase but a year later I got a letter saying thanks for having them take the tour. I thought that was funny.
