Referral

Hi

DH & I are seriously considering DVC. We looked before but none of the resorts really appealed to us but now there is Bay Lake Tower - we saw the model rooms last week and even DH was very impressed

Anyway I know there is a thread on the main DVC boards for referral names but wonder if any UK DVCer would let us use their name?

There is no real rush as we will probably buy when we are out there in September (Free dining already booked and going in a large family group so not changing it!)

Unfortunately UK members cannot use the referral incentives - this is not a DVC rule but due to UK timeshare legislation.

Thats strange - when we meet with a guide last week I said that we knew someone in the UK that owned DVC and he said we would be able to get the cruise incentive if we put down the name of the member that we were referred by.

Didn't matter anyway as we knew we wouldn't be ready to buy before they changed the incentives.

Not sure why they said that - maybe they weren't aware of the rules - but as far as I am aware it is still the case that you can't get the refererral incentives if you are UK based.

Certainly wasnt when we purchased last year. We put down a UK friend as our referrer and didnt receive anything other than a thank you email.

If we'd been able to claim the incentives for all the introductions we've made, we'd be bordering on wealthy by now!

We were able to access an additional discount by using a referral from a colleague - discount and developer points. Our guide actually noted that it was only because we had the referrer's name that we were able to access the discount.

My colleague received a letter from my guide thanking him for the referral but he was not eligible to receive the incentives that some US based DVC members are able to access - cash rewards etc.

So if i get a referral from a UK member I can get the extra $$ off incentive but the member will only get a thank you postcard - is that right?

If so would anyone be willing to let me have their details so I can use them as a referral?

Hi everyone ,
On our recent trip to OKW my Dad got chatting to some people in the pool who were thinking of buying into BLT . They spent a long time chatting to my Dad about DVC - signed up for 300 points using my Dads member number and got 10% discount on their purchase AND a cruise for 4 people.

It does seem a little unfair we get nothing !
