We have friends, who joined DVC in January and used our name as a referral. Does anyone know how long it takes to get any information regarding referral reward choices after your referred friends join DVC? We are hoping to use the $200.00 Disney Dollars for our trip in September.

Thank you for any and all replies.:)

your friends need to have "closed" on thier contract...then a few weeks later.

If I remember correctly and things have not changed - it is usually 90 days from date of closing.

you should have no problem if your friends have closed or are closing soon to get the certificate mailed to you, sned it back with the DD option checked and have your DD at your home for youe September trip.

Depending on your State of residence you may or may not qualify for a gift.

DVC is not very speedy with the rewards. I bought DVC in March, 2006 thru Disney. MY co-worker, who got the reward, did not get the $200 until sometime around Sept or Oct.

If I bought 4 separate contracts at 175, 75, 50, 50 = $800 in rewards?

Our friends purchased points and used our name for a referral and all we got back was a thank you!! No rewards or anything..not even a pin!! Who would I talk to about this. So our Disney guide received more commission from us, but we received nothing! Thanks for the info.

NO...its for the person "who referred you" the one time and those you refer, who haven't contacted DVC before.
If a person has a name, listed on thier records as a referral person, even from years ago, the referral person gets the perk...not the buyer...(they're already getting a discount to purchase, especially during the at times "member referral" programs Disney has had in the past).

Call your guide and check it out.
Maybe your state isn't involved in timeshare purchases therefore not allowable, maybe you weren't a member then, it is my understanding Disney guides don't get comission they (as of 2003) were salary based. You got DVC...isn't that great? :cool1:

Sounds like you live in a state that does not permit referrals. Many US states have laws on the books prohibiting their residents from receiving any rewards or incentives tied to a timeshare purchase. The purpose of these laws is to ostensibly protect their residents from the horrible timeshare salespeople. (Yes, sarcasm is intended.)

If you live in a state the prohibits referrals, all they can do is send you a "thank you" letter. They can't give you any Disney Dollars, Fastpasses, tote bags or any other form of compensation...any of which would violate your state's laws.

It depends on the state. In Texas the law is written to protect Realtors who obviously greased some palms. Realtors can collect any referral fee they want, no limits. A non licensed citizen is limited to $50 per referral. I have already discussed this with Disney and they will not modify the program for Texas. I am still working on the Texas Real Estate Commission.

I suspect that this may be the same reason in other states. :sad1:

I was told as of jan 1, al states now qualify for the 200. PA originally was not and I had a referrral from PA and they said it now qualifies

Do you mean ALL states? If that's what you meant, you are incorrect. I spoke to a manager from Disney's Share the Dreams program just 2 days ago. My correspondence from the State of Texas was dated February 6, 2008.

How sad. :sad1:

Note that you CAN still use your friend as a referral if you wish. All you really need to do is provide her name and city of residence when you contact DVC. The referring member doesn't need to be any more involved in the process.

Good luck.

Just a reminder all offers for referral, or those seeking one, are to be kept on this thread only.

Thank you.
