Referral Incentives for BLT?

I apologize in advance if this question has been definitely answered elsewhere. I searched and did not find the answer.

I thought I read in the referral thread that there was a referral incentive at BLT (may have only been a $25 gift card, not sure) for new buyers. I talked to my guide and she indicated that there were no referral incentives at BLT right now.

Should I take her word as gospel? Or does anyone here know otherwise?

Thanks!

Jeff

My guide informed me today that they just received word today that BLT was in the "final sales stage" (not sure exactly what this means but assumes it means it is expected to sell out by summertime??).

Also indicated that DVC would be raising the price of BLT to $140 in March 2011. Apparently it is rare for DVC to raise the price of a property more than once per year and they just raised it to $130 in December 2010.

Apparently BLT sales are going well...

:scared1: Wow, if this is true! Tiger

Our original guide told us last April that BLT would sell out by LAST summer, so I'm not sure I would rely on this information. (We requested a new guide, in part because of tactics like this....) There are several folks on the Disboards who closely monitor the sales recorded over at OCC. Perhaps they could chime in here regarding the number of undeclared DVC units that still remain at BLT.

The word is that BLT will most likely sell out this year. Certain use years will begin to sell out first, meaning that if you have an August use year, for example, and you want to add on, even if there are ample BLT points left, you may not be able to if the August use years are already gone. At that point, your only options would be the wait list, or the resale market, or buy a new master contract, thereby giving you two member numbers, two different use years, etc.

The points are going to $140 per point on March 7th for new members who do not have a referral. For existing members, or new buyers with referrals, the price will remain at $130 per point until further notice.

Hmm, all the more reason for first-time buyers to ask for a referral...

Also, with no new WDW/DVC properties currently under construction, all the more reason for Disney to consider getting into the resale business themselves...

if I recall correctly, my guide told me there were no incentives for BLT right now as well.

We just did an add on at AKV :cool1:

I wanted to do BLT but AKV was a better deal....at least for the moment.
Maybe we'll add BLT later....:rotfl2:

Wow -- I thought the price was high when we bought in. Geez -- $140 :scared1:
Agreed. At $140, we definitely would not have decided to buy in at BLT originally. I don't know if we would have even done it at $130. With incentives, it was around $112 when we signed... and even that was tough to justify when comparing BLT to the discount rates we were seeing for cash reservations.

We paid about the same. We only started with 100 points with plans to add-on this year. I'm "trolling" these boards alot right now b/c I'm trying to decide what to do about an add-on, given the impending resale restrictions.

My options are not great --
1. Buy BLT resale: there are no BLT resale contracts with my UY and very few 100 pt or less contracts available (we really just want 60 to 100 more points)
2. BLT direct: $130 is "hard to swallow"
3. Buy another resort resale - We really like AKV in terms of beauty and restaurants ; BLT has location beat by a long shot!! There are a few options out there . . . but the clock is ticking.

I DO NOT LIKE THESE IMPENDING CHANGES. While it really doesn't matter to some people, my husband really likes the availability of RCI trading, even through we would likely only use RCI every 3-4 years or so. . . . Ugh!

Decisions, decisions, decisions. . . :surfweb:

My understanding is that RCI exchanges are not affected by the policy change. Isn't that trading ability still included for resales after March 20?

I confirmed with my guide as well what others have posted here. BLT going up to $140 for those without referral, stays at $130 for members who add on. Current incentives are the same; $13 off per point for 100-249 points. $18 off per point for anything over 249. He also mentioned that these current incentives were only supposed to be around for another 2-3 weeks, however that could be a salesman tactic. Our UY is available which is good. I would like to go resale but have been looking almost since we purchased in June and our UY is very difficult to find. Thought we had a re-sale contract ready to purchase but the sellers changed their mind after a couple of days. The impending changes don't seem like that big of a deal for us since we plan to use our points for Disney. However we don't have that large of an initial purchase and would like to add more with the full benefits "just in case" we ever would like to take advantage of those options. After we have an amount we are comfortable with I would have no problem adding on resale. So like GettinReadyforDisney said, "Decisions, decisions".......

OMG -- you are right!!!!! :worship:

The World Passport Collection will still be available.

OK, I feel a little silly now :hippie:

I think it's time to take a step back and reevaluate. We still have the issue of the impending price increase at BLT. But, maybe BLT resale prices will come down and the right one will come along . . . eventually. :confused3

I got an email from my guide this afternoon. He didn't give me specifics on the price increase, but said it was coming in March.

disboard user wdrl has been posting sales figures and they have been selling a ton of BLT points over the last quarter and recently (say the past couple of weeks) that they had made the final declaration of points for the resort.

Glad I got in this time last year at around $108 / point. $140 / point would be a bit much. Direct sale prices of $140/point should help out the BLT resale market.

There won't be any sales at $140 because they always discount with a special, limited time incentive.

Well sure, but it's all relative isn't it?

When we bought in, BLT was at $120pp, but we only paid $108. Unless they are just raising the price to $140pp to give away really high discounts, the overall price is going up rather than down.

My posts are directed to the folks who may just be tuning in and those who don't know about the games that Disney plays. Yes the direct price is going up, but not as high as $140.

My guide told me in beginning of this month they thought that another price increase was coming before it sold out. BLT sells well. I paid less than $80 for BCV and $90's for SSR, so I can't even imagine $140, even with incentives:scared1: But if it was the Polynesian Resort I may think about it:love:

It would not surprise me if BLT was in the "final sales phase." As many of you know, the Master Declarations of Condominium for all DVC resorts state that DVD cannot sell more than 98% of a resort to the public. However, DVD is not obligated to sell that percentage, nor is it obligated to declare the entire resort for the membership.

Dizfan and I have been posting regular updates to TSMIII's thread on BLT sales (see http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2212548&page=15). As the chart below shows, 92.15% of BLT has been declared for the DVC Membership. Through January 24, 2011, deeds recorded with the Orange County Comptroller show that DVD has sold about 4,443,043 (77.49%) of BLT's 5,733,530 points. More importantly, BLT is only 1,175,816 points short of the 98% figure. That may sound like a lot of points, but its not.

BLT sold over 206,000 points sold in December 2010 resulting in the best monthly sales figure in over a year (see http://dvcnews.com/forum/showpost.php?p=90901&postcount=104). Sales in January 2011 have dropped somewhat, and it is currently selling at a monthly rate of about 158,800 points. If BLT sales continue at that lower rate, 98% of the resort would be sold by mid-September.
