Is the referrals in a year calculated by Jan-Dec or your use year?

Calendar year. I had a referral in July (I have an August use year) and one in October and they were both counted as being in the same year!

We just referred someone who joined DVC. We got a letter in the mail from our guide saying that they were working with them and thanks for referring (etc). This was before they joined. Now that they have joined what do we get for referring them? I cant find anything on the member site saying what you get for referring new members.

(Edited, PA used to be off the list) Sadly, in some states (e.g. MN & TX) you do not get any monetary referral bonus as these are forbidden by law; so only a nice thank you letter. So Jaaron in PA, you would get a $200 referral bonus. Those others of you in states like AR, AK, DC, HI, MI, MN, MT,OR, NE, TN, TX, VT, WI and WY, pass along those referrals to friends in eligible states, and maybe they'll share.

From the Member Site: "Eligible State" is any state that permits rewarding Members for their participation in the Program. Current eligible States are: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Puerto Rico also is an eligible jurisdiction. DVD reserves the right to add or remove Eligible States as business and legal circumstances allow.

I just checked and PA wasn't on the excluded list? Am I missing something? My niece is buying and is using me as a referral. Are you saying becasue I live in PA I am not eligible? thanks, Penny

I mentioned that we were thinking of buying into DVC and received several emails regarding a referral. Not sure what this is about can someone explain?

Are you saying you received PMs here from DIS members offering to be your referral? I assume that's what you mean.

Disney often offers special incentives for purchasers that have a referral from a current member -- incentive points are the most frequent. These incentives are not always offered. Members referring new purchases from eligible states receive something too - money towards their annual dues or a gift card, etc.

And to the other poster - yes, if that list is correct -- PA is on the list, so I'm guessing you're not excluded from the referral bonuses.

Looks like you are good to go with getting the referral. If you have never referred anyone this year and your friends have bought then you should be getting 200.00. You can find it on the members website or you can call your guide and they will be able to help you.

I edited my post above. Clearly, PA is on the list where it's allowed, tho I had a strong recollection that it used to be verboten. So Penny and Jaaron2 shoudl both be getting their referral awards once their referrals close on their purchases.

Note that you can check on your referrals on the My DVC site, and cash them in right there and then (without waiting for the mails). Plus, your next referral in a calendar year will net you more than $200. I try to get 1 or 2 referrals per year, though I usually forward the first $200 on to the purchasers if they want it.

I seem to remember hearing that PA couldn't get money for referrals, so when my niece said she used my name, I didn't think I would get any money. I went on the site to check and I am pleased to see that I will. Thanks for the answers. Penny
