Ok, I referred a family and they bought (Welcome Home!). When they first contacted DVC to get the info. pakcet, I got a nice note from DVC stating "thanks for sharing the secret," and letting me know that this family was looking into DVC and had given my name as the one who referred them. Fine.

Today, I got another letter from DVC stating that the family has indeed purchased and are now members (yeah for them!!! :goodvibes ). Inlcuded with the letter was a little certificate on cardstock stating something like "I shared the secret" and it has my name embossed on it. Nowhere in the letter did it say that I would be getting a bonus of any kind (and I am in a state where they do allow bonuses).

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Maine is not an allowed state. :guilty:

Here's a list of allowable states. Hopefully its ok to post this.

Currently those states are: Alabama, Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Puerto Rico is also an eligible jurisdiction.

Thanks for the info. I specificically asked if my state was allowed...bummed to hear that it is not. :guilty:

I thought I read a previous post that monetary bonuses were not allowed but the referring member could still get some type of Disney giftcard...seems like it was $50 or so. I'd call your guide and see what they say.

From time-to-time, DVC will run a promotion where the member receives a small reward ($50 gift card) just for referring a potential member who takes a tour of the facilities. The "tour" can be either in-person or a presentation over the phone.

In this situation, there was no purchase required. That's the differentiating factor. I believe that the states not on the list posted above have laws against residents receiving compensation associated with a timeshare purchase. When DVC has run these "tour" specials, the reward is not tied to a purchase.

IIRC, DVC did run one of these tour reward deals back in the Fall, but it was several weeks or months before the $86 SSR referral price began.
