It's about that time when I need some new running shoes. Last time I was fitted by the local running store. I liked the shoes but I did tend to get blisters on the side of my big toe, on my long runs. Right now I'm wearing Adidas adiPRENE. I plan on going back to my local running store to get fitted again but I was a little curious about the Reebok Realflex. Are they even designed for long distance running? Does anyone have these shoes and want to give me their thoughts and opinions? I plan on running a few 5ks this year, a half marathon in November (Wine & Dine, yay!) and with any luck, my first full marathon this January (WDW). Also if there's any other shoes that you love, I'd love to hear about them!

I find that my socks are more to blame than my shoes for blisters. Once I switched to very thin socks my blistering went away. I also use Body Glide on my hotspots and that helps a lot.

Maybe this will help?

Thanks. I'll look in to different socks. I still need new shoes. Anyone have any thoughts on the reebok realflex or any other running shoes?

I run in Asics 2160s and Brooks Adrenaline. I like the Asics better due to better cushioning.

I have the Reebok Realflex. I love them for walking (actually wore them to WDW last September), however, I do not like to run in them. They have very little arch support. I recently bought a pair of Mizunos that I really like for running. I guess it all depends on what you prefer in a running shoe. If you are more concerned about a light-weight shoe, you may like the realflex, but I think you would be better off going to your local running store.

I haven't tried these shoes, but I do have a comment on the socks. When I went to the running store to get fitted, they said that I should wear synthetic socks instead of cotton. They said that the cotton socks cause more friction, which gives you blisters.

I just don't trust Reebok as a "runner's brand". I haven't tried them but I probably wouldn't. I tend to stick with New Balance and Saucony. I overpronate so I rarely try a new technology shoe anyway-I go for the old tried and true.

Thanks everyone for the info. That's pretty much what I suspected about the Realflex. I'm going to go to my running store to get fitted again. The info on the socks was very helpful too. I've been running in cotton socks so I'll look into getting synthetic ones.
