I read in an older post that there is a section called "The Magic of Brother Bear" at Redwood Creek. Is this still there? DS loves Brother Bear, and he would really enjoy this. I just don't want to get his hopes up if it has been refurbed...

Sorry to say that the Redwood Creek Challenge area is now themed to Up and not Brother Bear. The Brother Bear ceremony no longer occurs, it is now a Wilderness Explorer ceremony where you become a Senior Wilderness Explorer. They pretty much took everything out of that area that referred to Brother Bear and replaced it with Up theming. The only place I know of that has the Brother Bear characters is the Storyteller's character breakfast. Of course, it is not a guarantee that Koda and Kenai will be there, but I have had breakfast there four times and they have both been there each time.

Thanks! I'm glad I didn't mention it to him. I will check out the breakfast option as we had planned to just wing it each morning, but he would enjoy seeing Koda and Kenai enough to make it worthwhile.

Storyteller's is one of my favorite breakfast places. I like it because while there is a buffet, you don't have to eat from it. It also is a little more relaxing than some of the other character experiences. Koda stayed at our table and played around with my sisters for a good 10 minutes. He also got a chair and sat down with us and pretended to eat my husband's food! It was fun and very enjoyable.

Just in case you were considering skipping the area now that Brother Bear is gone....you might want to give it a visit anyway. I preferered BB theming, but Up is ok. But the area itself is so fantastic. It feels sort of seperate and calmer than the rest of the park. My kids love it, and have for many years. I'll be sad when they outgrow it.....

if the area has been rethemed to UP, can anytone confirm if DUG or RUSSELL make character appearances? I have seen a photo taken with DUG and he's become my favorite character in recent years.

Russell and Dug both make appearances. There's a special Wilderness Explorer ceremony that concludes with Russell or Dug meet and greet. The whole area is great but yeah, except for one tiny part, Brother Bear is gone.

Yes, they both make appearances. Russell at the end of the Senior Wilderness Explorer ceremony and Dug about 5-10 minutes after the ceremony at the front of the wilderness area, just inside by the large tree.

Did they even change that little cave?

The cave (where you find out your spirit animal), was still there when we went in May of this yr. We also saw Dug at the entrance to the Redwood Creek area, doing a meet & greet.

To explain a bit, you can either order the buffet for a set price (including a coffee/juice/milk), or you can order from the menu. We have chosen the buffet because with a coffee it ends up being a better price. I found out after the fact that you can order anything from the menu from the chefs behind the buffet.

No, you can still find your spirit animal!

I was said to see the bears go, but the Wilderness Explorer addition is wonderful.

Just know that the tire swing and rock wall climbing has a height requirement (and the tire swing aka smokejumpers has a height AND age *limit* as well). (so don't take a disappointed 41.5" kid in there while dad goes on Grizzly, only to find that he can't go on the *rides* in there, either...all the other stuff in there held no appeal after that!)

Thanks, everyone! :thumbsup2
We will definitely be going to both Redwood Creek and StoryTeller's. This kind of info is the reason that I LOVE the DisBoards!!
