Wow!
Lets see, first write down everything you owe...
Not just credit cards, but utilities, rent/mortgage, kids activities, school fees, grocery ... everything...
Lets start with credit cards. First look at your percentage rate. Call the bank/company, and negiotate with them..
Say something like (approx. figures).... I'm at 11%, I know you can offer me a better rate. Other companies are starting at 8 or 9 %, or a zero rate for a few months, and then go up to 5 or 6 %.
What can you do for me?
This works especially if you have had the card for a while, and have carried a balance for a long time as well. They will do anythign to keep you!
Grocery:
Coupons, coupons, coupons.
Don't buy anything (wiht the exception of milk, eggs) without it.
Buy generic anything, and try it. You may find it more quantity in the box, for less money. dont get sucked in by sales, or pretty packaging or going to the store hungry. Stock up during double or (if you are lucky) triple coupons. Buy only what is on the list, and NOTHING MORE.
Cigarrettes and alcohol is very expensive around here. If you do that, well cut down, or more radical quit immediately. You will be healthier and have money in your pocket.
Have buy nothing days... and turn them into buy nothing weeks. Buy nothing is when you don't spend a dime the whole day.. Stretch it into two days, three days, and you will eventually make it about a week.
Write down everything you spend in a day.. from the coffee at the conveinence store, to the take out food, or the candy in the vending machine, to the ATM visits.
You will be shocked..
This is just the tip of the iceberg, so I won't overwhelm you...
I read some really amazing books....
ONe was Affluenza, one was Your Money Your Life, and the other one was Living Debt Free.....
