Do these do anything new? Were the masses calling out for a better solution to the old power bands?

I know these new types (six battery configuration) were being sold at Disneyland Paris already. Perhaps they demanded a more fashionable band?

I wonder if the Paris bands will work in DCA? If anyone has any info on this, please share.

Out of all the Disney parks accessories, there is the least amount of discussion online regarding webtech. People go on for pages for popcorn buckets, yet the power band + accessories goes undiscussed mostly.

No idea on the Paris ones but literally nobody in Paris buys a Power Band. Ironically, I asked if my DCA band would work in Paris but in the end didn't bring it because I was told that nobody uses it in Paris. It's really a gimmick for Americans.

Unlike things like popcorn buckets, Web Tech isn't really collectible and it fails in its purpose. Wearing it leads to massive lag and misfirings so you have to take it off after it registers with the ride. Other than the base unit, none of the additional attachments actually help your score and it's extra weight to carry around the park. The original DCA design is pretty bad because the plastic that goes around the arm is thin and mine is already tearing. This band looks like it'll last longer but I strongly advise against buying a Power Band unless you're already consistently scoring over 320K without the band and carrying every single stranger team you're put on.

At least with a popcorn bucket, you can use it to store things at home after your day in the park. They can be placed on a shelf and look reasonably nice. Power Bands are inconvenient to store if you actually take them out of the box.

That's the thing about these - I really like the concept, but you really need to get in multiple rides to get your use out of it. That may be easier now, but last time I was there, the line was so long that it just wasn't feasible. I'm sorry to hear that they don't work well either. They are definitely more of a kid-focused toy, though I will admit that I wanted an Iron Man one.

Update!

Trip is over. Got to take the power bands to DCA and.... they worked!

My son got to shoot electric webs, then repulsor beams, but then let his mother and I have them as he "just wanted to shoot webs."

Also a note: I saw zero other bands. The store had them but I didn't see any in the park. My son had two and it looked extravagant.

In any case, for the search engines out there:

Paris Web Slinger Bands and attachments work in DCA.
