I have started a rewards program (NCP) with the goal of saving my reward points towards either a VISA digital gift card or Paypal payout. The VISA payout is better, but wanted to know actual experience others have had redeeming. Am I correct that you need a balance above the amount you are wanting to spend, or is Disney able to split payment? For example- if I have a $100 balance, can I use that amount towards park tickets or a dining reservation that is more expensive? Thanks for any info!

Depending on the issuer, these can be notoriously difficult to spend. Some are fine, but some don't work properly online or at various in person retailers.

If you know you want to use the money for Disney, you could get the Visa digital card and then just go but yourself a Disney gift card from the Disney store for that exact amount. However, that assumes that the card works for online purchases, something that can be difficult from one card to the next.

I also use NCP and have found it easier to use the Visa digital gift card for groceries and take $25 from my grocery budget and purchase a Disney gift card! LOL

Not sure if you called Disney and asked to use it for the exact amount on the Visa card if that would work.

I have found that supermarkets are the best places for any type of gift cards- not sure if their systems are just set up to accept 'remaining balances' then go on to the next card? But yes- where I work VISA gift cards get declined if the balance on the card is less than the total purchase price. And I am pretty sure the amount I will be able to earn will be less than whatever ticket I am trying to buy next year.

If you want to use it for Disney use it to buy a Disney gift card from Target or online works as well. Supermarkets usually work well no idea if all work. BJ ‘S works as well.
What happens are 2 things. 1 some just can not confirm the balance and will reject the card this will leave you a few day waiting period until the authorization drops off. 2 some will put a small authorization leaving you with the balance of .25 or 1 less so trying to use the total amount will be rejected.
If this sounds like to much work get PayPal… a lot less headaches.

this reminds me of the method I used when we did our last Orlando vacation. not NCP but i let all my value build up for over a year and subtracted the amount from my monthly household budget the month we went to use for the vacation. turned around and paid for the household budget expenses with the value I had accrued.

Want to clarify- if I am paying for something directly from disney I can use a disney gift card as partial payment and it will not get rejected? Then use another form of payment for he remaining balance?

Yes a Disney gift card will accepted as partial payment. They will run the gift card and say the amount still owed is X or you have X left on the gift card.
