Redeeming a Virtual Visa Gift Card

I was given a $100 virtual Visa gift card recently and it's proven pretty difficult to spend. I've been told I can't use it to purchase another gift card (say a $100 Disney GC at Target), I can't use it to purchase an Amazon gift card (or use it to split payment if I want something less or over $100).

How do you spend your virtual Visa gift cards? Ideally I'd like to turn that $100 locked on the virtual gift card into cash to spend at Disney next month or a gift card to spend at Disney.

You can't usually buy a gift card with a gift card, so that option is probably null. I've used Visa gift cards at WDW to pay for meals or hotel. Granted it's been several years and those were physical gift cards, but I don't see why you can't use an egift card. Isn't there a way to print out the bar code?

Does your Virtual Visa give you the option to add it to ApplePay/GooglePay?
If so you could then buy a Disney Gift card at target or other places that accept apple pay.

If nothing else you should be able to use it to buy an amazon gift card for $100 on amazon to be instantly loaded to your account.

That usually applies to if you have a store gift card for store A and go to store A to buy a gift card for Store B.
This is a Visa Gift card and should work to purchase gift cards at merchants.
The only exceptions I have seen is lottery tickets and not being able to use it at the pump, and if using it at a restaurant you lose 20% right away as a temporary hold for a possible tip.

Seems pretty complicated. I'd use it to buy groceries and then take the $100 I didn't spend on the groceries and spend it on something trip-related.
If the OP cannot add it to a digital wallet to buy in the store since there’s nothing to swipe at the terminal if they would have to buy the groceries online for pick up or delivery

Digital Visa gift cards can be printed to use in store.

Only if the Merchant will allow a cashier to key in the numbers. Most stores will not allow it as the percentage charged to the merchant is higher compared to it being swiped, chipped or tapped.

Normally I agree with the logic - but Visa Gift cards, whether virtual or physical, usually decline if you try to purchase more than what is on them. Unless I buy over $100 worth of groceries (I don't, I live alone) and ask them to put $100 of the bill on the Visa gift card and the remaining xx on a credit card, it will be declined for having insufficient funds. If I spend $40 a week on groceries it'll decline the third week when I only have $20 on the card. Then I use it for smaller purchases until I'm left with a dollar or so on it and then it becomes worthless. So ideally I'd be able to use it for something that costs exactly $100 -- like a gift card for an upcoming trip!

It's so frustrating! I've heard that you can't use a Virtual Visa GC to buy an Amazon GC online - if that's an option, I'll just do that.

I saw a thread here recently about a person having a difficult time at Disney using a virtual gift card because many food kiosks and bars did not have scanners for the codes. There was a whole thread on how to merge a Disney virtual GC onto a physical one. So printing out a Virtual Visa Card to use doesn't seem helpful.

I'll try this - everyone, thanks for your help!
