I know on Gay Days, Red is the thing to wear.... but what about the rest of the year? Do you wear Red as a sign? Do you give those wearing red the "2nd glance"???

Intriguing minds want to know!

:rainbow:

This begs the question...how do you reconcile the red with DIS lime? Do you have to choose one above the other, or cause a major fashion faux pas and wear them together?

So Lime Green and Red do not go toghether?????

Outside of Gay Days, I don't equate people wearing red clothing as being gay. For me, it's more about eye contact with someone when I'm walking down the street that piques my curisoty about someone's sexuality.

Speaking of red clothing, be on the lookout from a new clothing and accessory line called (RED) from Gap this fall. Not everything in the collection will be red, but there are red t-shirts. The product is made in Africa, and half the profits from sales of this line will go to Bono's AIDS in Africa relief fund. Next year, it would be cool to see a lot of people at Gay Days will be wearing these shirts!

Back in the 1920's in Chicago, on State Street, gentlemen wore red neckties to "signal" to each other, and thus meet people.

What? No, really? :) Come on! It's ALL good! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Hey! I didn't say I wouldn't wear it for the cause(s)! Personally, I object more to the red shirt (makes me look like one big ripe tomato ready to explode) than the lime green ribbon.

Yeah, me too! :rotfl2:

Seattle ... why not a candy red apple rather than a tomato? Much more delicious. (No pun intended) pixiedust:

What an interesting bit of trivia...

Thanks for that iankh.

Mmmm, Red Delicious, applesauce on a core, my favorite!!! :p

We do have some good apples here, but that ain't one of 'em!

Besides apples aren't round (like a tomato and like my head). I'm one of the people who reddens very easily (through sunburn, exertion or emberassement sp?) so the red t-shirt has never been my fave.

On the other hand, Anaheim GayDays has a less-saturated red shirt I'd consider wearing.

I never knew that red was the color to wear as a "sign" so I would say no, I never give people a "2nd glance." I've worn red to the parks, as has my DBF and we are both straight.

I do wear red for gay days , but never thought to do so specifically to signal any other time.

I always thought the swish in my pants would help alert others to my red wearing ability

:thumbsup2

OK... how about a Red Mickey T-shirt with a lanyard full of rainbow pins... now that should get the family's attention. :grouphug: Disney sure does know how to market.

I love that photo... it shows Disney can show its support for the unofficial event and signals us that they want our business.

Disney had the same display up in the Main St. USA shop windows when I went to GayDays 2 years ago. That's when I got the pin in the photo, and why I chose it to display here in my user info!
